African Nations Form Security Council

Long reluctant to intervene in each other's crises, African nations have now launched a new continent-wide security council with powers to send African peacekeeping troops to conflict zones. It's been done before and failed, and critics say political will and capacity will be critical. We support the measure, and hope it's successful.
