Botswana's gross domestic product is estimated to have grown by 6.7% over the past year, as compared to 2.2% the previous year. We don't hear much about the good part of Africa, but Botswana has been a stable democracy since its independence in the 1960s. The southern African country has one of Africa's highest per capita GDPs ($9,500, vs. black Americans' $16,864 per capita GDP) and has had impressive economic gains.
