The Death of Christianity in Europe

Article (Christian Broadcasting Network)

Although Europeans say they believe in God, church attendance in most countries is under 5%. Less than half of Brits can name any of the 4 New Testament Gospels. 33% of all Dutch no longer know why we have Christmas. France has more practicing Muslims than baptized Catholics. Many of Old Europe's cathedrals are now simply large museums. Religious differences between the U.S. and Europe are a key driver of current political divisions.

In its racist slams against American culture (much of it black culture), Old Europe would take away the one element -- religion -- that gave us the strength and fortitude to fight for our civil rights. It sure wasn't secularists who led the charge against slavery or Jim Crow! Not to mention the root of much of our musicology and art. Interestingly, only 3% of Brits regularly attend church. Of that 3%, half are black -- and blacks are only about 5% of Britain's population. The black Pentecostal church is growing in London, so at least our brethren ain't lost their minds.

Old Europe could be poised for spiritual revival -- but it'll come under Islam, its fastest growing religion and former conqueror whose adherents have a much higher birth rate. It'll be interesting to watch from across the pond...
