DEBORAH MATHIS COMMENTARY: Will The South Be Transformed Into Fulfillment Land?

The native Southerner remembers taunts, chides and ridicule about her region from "condescending Northerners and Westerners, many of them my own kin" as a child. However, the Great Migration of last century is in reverse, as black folks return to the South. We've been arguing that this reverse migration means the fall of liberalism, given the South's social conservatism and evangelical Christianity. As long as we focus on our communities' most pressing issues, the "New South" will be Fulfillment Land.
