One of the world's largest black museums is in fiscal crisis. Detroit's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History must raise $500,000 by June 30 to remain open. A widespread community effort to generate the funds is underway, as area churches and private donors contributed the first half of the $1 million total administrators say is necessary. Our questions: (1) why does the museum have no endowment; and (2) where aren't more affluent black folks donating to the museum? To donate, go here .
