Mr. Phillips goes off on folks who exploit the Abu Ghraib scandal for political gain, saying it demoralizes our troops, derails domestic support for the Bushies' policy, and diverts America from its democracy project in the Middle East. He asserts that USA's grapple with Abu Ghraib in the world spotlight and many Americans' outrage testifies to the country's moral strength and justifies our role as world leader. If Mr. Phillips looks familiar, it's because the conservative Republican played Denise's husband on "The Cosby Show" and was also on "General Hospital."
