The Black Ministers Council's support is a marked split from the state's Democratic Party, and in line with conservative Republican Bret Schundler, who lost to Gov. James E. McGreevey in 2001 and is expected to challenge him again next year. The BMC will organize a parents' movement to push the issue. They're also calling for teacher tenure reform, which will surely anger the powerful state teachers union. 72% of parents with children in the state's 30 poorest districts support vouchers.
