Article (Associated Press)
The U.S. hands over operations to a U.N. force tomorrow, even though a fraction of the planned 8,000 troops and police are there yet. Most of the 1,900 U.S. troops will stay until June 30. Of course, the same whiners about U.S. "unilateralism" want us to remain there. U.S. troops shouldn't have been in Haiti in the first place. Haitians should've determined Jean-Bertrand Aristide's fate. Holier-than-thou France and Canada should do more. How about the Caribbean policing its own region? Our involvement should be turning back illegals and drug traffickers.
