Jose Maria Aznar, former Spanish prime minister and one of President George W. Bush's strongest supporters on Iraq, urges the second Bush administration to reshape its policies toward Europe or risk losing the war on terror. The conservative also warns of a wave of anti-Americanism washing over Europe.
We agree that USA must back up Central and Eastern Europe. However, most of Western Europe — with its rabid anti-Americanism — will have to learn the hard way, as its Muslim population rapidly grows and radicalizes. Look at the conflict in the Netherlands, even though Ayaan Hirsi Ali has sounded alarms for years. Western Europe was staunchly anti-America while President Reagan took on communist Russia with success. They favor appeasement.
