The New Democrat, a moderate blog, argues that never before have moderates in both major parties been so marginalized in U.S. politics: "Moderates on both sides are feeling increasingly shut out as the radical elements seize power and push a partisan-at-any-cost agenda that, without compromise of any kind, will only open America to even more polarization and black flag political fundamentalism. The time for action is drawing close. The handle moderates once had on the political world is being reduced by the unwavering assault from both sides, each claiming that the moderate is a sellout to the 'enemy' because of an unwillingness to accept all policies all of the time. Moderates must organize, talk, meet up and assemble a message that cannot be mistaken."
Actually, it was as bad in the late 1800s but some points are valid.
