Duane Brayboy on 13%

The moderate-conservative, on folks who blast mainstream media for covering missing white kids over missing kids of color: "Like many of my black brothas and sistahs out there, there are times that I just want to scream at some of these producers to tell them 'Hey, some of us have gone missing too!'. Yet, in the middle of my momentary frustration, I then have to ask myself 'Has black media done similar full-court press coverage of missing kids in our community?' It seems to me that if we were so concerned about finding our missing, we would see the picture of the 'It' missing girl of the hour (sorry to put it that crudely, but that is how these kids are portrayed) plastered on the front pages of our newspapers and magazines. In addition, we would see these same pictures posted throughout our communities in hopes that someone would reveal the location of this missing individual. Does this ever happen in our community? Yes, however not at the level that we are wanting mainstream media to do it for us. I think this has less to do with us wanting to see our missing found and more to do with us wanting to pin another 'example' of racism on whites (before you flip out, please continue to read the rest). It is estimated that while whites make up over 70% of this country, blacks make up roughly 13%. If you own a 24 hour news network and want to have longevity in the business, guess who you are going to cater to the most? Yes, its strictly business."
