The moderate-conservative blogger takes issue with one of Rev. Jesse Jackson's column, which cites statistics about the state of Alabama's blacks 50 years after Rosa Parks' famous action: "Okay, so there are more Black folks in Alabama in prison than there are in college. But is this among college-age Black folks, or Black folks as a whole? Yahmeen, all of us who have been to college know that there's always a few career changers in the mix, but the overwhelming majority of people in college, irrespective of race, are in the 'marketer's wet dream' age group. If the number of Black Alabamans within the same age group is greater than the number of those in college, then we have something to work with. I don't know what that statistic would necessarily prove, but at least it would be valid. Likewise, all those stats about the number of Black folks who are incarcerated, I think those are some sad nmbers, regardless of the race. But I think there are some other numbers that might give us a better picture - a more accurate picture, at least. What I might like to know is this: of the number of Black folks who are in jail right now, how many of them are in there for victimizing other Black folks? I know I'm gettin' old, because I'm straight-up losing patience for anybody who runs some style on me about how many of us are in jail without thinking about how many of us are being victimized. I haven't commented on Super Crip, but he fits right in there with the rest of 'em. Why should I be more concerned about the rights of knuckleheads than I am about the rights of people they victimize? Cuz one thing to bear in mind is the fact that most of these cats didn't get caught on their first day out. A lot of 'em were in the game for a minute before they finally got caught; they were so used to doing it that they messed around and got sloppy. A little more caution on their part, and they'd still be in the hood terrorizing folks. Naw, I'm not worried about em."
