Devone Tucker, a black conservative Republican blogger, writes: "The increasingly obnoxious Jamie Foxx, celebrating a win at the NAACP Image Awards [which will air on March 3 on FOX], tells the audience 'It's good to be surrounded by black folks.' Could you imagine what would happen if a white entertainer, at an awards ceremony with a [predominantly] Caucasian audience, said that it was 'good to be surrounded by white folks?'
Mr. Tucker forgot the rest of Mr. Foxx's quote: "Black folks are music." I would care less if a white entertainer did the same, as I have no illusions that many (if not most) white folks don't believe it is good to be surrounded by their own. It is not wrong for Jamie Foxx to want to be around the peeps. Especially when he is getting an NAACP award for his music and black folks have been enormous contributors to America's musical heritage. How about focusing on this truth? Mr. Tucker is making a mountain out of a mole hill here.
