MYCHAL MASSIE COMMENTARY: Another Threat Named Hussein

The conservative Republican commentator says beware of a rising star in American politics: "Barack Hussein Obama, D-Ill., sees himself as a symbol of the change Americans want in government. Once again, I am inclined to agree – but this time, for polar-opposite reasons.....America does want change in government, but Barack Hussein Obama doesn't satisfy that desire. There is no difference between this anti-gun, anti-war, cut-and-run, abortion-on-demand opponent of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, proponent of partial-birth abortion and supporter of sex education for grades K-5 and every other liberal in Congress today. His positions on the death tax, raising taxes and crime may be packaged and articulated differently, but when you look beneath the veneer, his positions are in perfect keeping with those making a mess of government today. Americans are tired of double speak and political correctness. They want leaders who are willing to stand up and speak for all of America – not opportunists who stand up and speak for Planned Parenthood or other feculent liberals intent on changing the country into a pissior of socialism. Obama is the extreme socialist liberal version of former Vice-President Dan Quayle, but without the substance. Many believe, myself included, that ultimately Obama will become the running mate of Hillary Clinton in her quest for the presidency. How will that ticket signal a new beginning for America? How can we expect him to support our Constitution, when he purports to be a Muslim converted to Christianity, yet denies significant portions of the Bible?"

Independent Conservative concurs in a piece entitled "We Don’t Have to Wonder What Barack Hussein Obama Would Do as President.". The black blogger asserts that Sen. Obama is a social Christian but not one rooted in the religion: "Some people claim that we don’t know enough about Barack Hussein Obama to really know what he stands for and what he might do as President, assuming he makes a run for the Presidency. (In 2008, 2012 or whenever.) The fact is that we have more than enough data to fully understand what he would be like as President. He would be a typical far Left Liberal, who talks like he’s about faith, but really flip flops to the Liberal side on issues Americans care about most. Obama was well exposed over 2 years ago, when he had to debate a man who takes strong stands on his faith. That man was none other than Alan Keyes. While we all knew Keyes would probably lose and even Keyes knew it himself, he set Obama up with well targeted statements and has preserved it all on his web site. Good for us Mr. Keyes did, because I am going to give you a plethora of examples from Obama’s own statements during those debates. To prove beyond all reasonable doubt, that Obama is a far Left Liberal who actually rejects more teachings of the Christian faith than he supports. And when Obama is presented with the true teachings of the faith he claims to represent he rejects it!"

My response: One can certainly challenge Sen. Barack Obama on his policy positions. However, it is a low blow to implicitly link him - a democrat (and I mean to use the small d) - to the totalitarian likes of former dictator Saddam Hussein, simply because of Sen. Obama's middle name. It is a name probably shared with 300 million people. That is just not logical. And when was Sen. Obama a Muslim? Just because his late father (who he barely knew) and his stepfather (shortlived in his life) were Muslim, does not mean that he was or is one. He is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, a well-known, large, and black middle class congregation here in Chicago.
