32-27...Advantage Obama

Angela Winters, a black moderate blogger, writes: "Hill's Obama VooDoo Doll is just not working. She needs to get her money back. Barry bested Hills by $5 mill in fundraising this quarter. As much as I hate the rule of the almighty dollar in this thing, I am happy to see him breaking all the records. He shattered the record for presidential fundraising in the first six months of the year before an election with $58 mill. A lot of people on the Right threw up a little bit in their mouths when they read that. W is second with $37.3 mill. Well that money was well spent. Personally, I think all this money would be better served somewhere else, but that's the game I guess. I really like Obama, but am I missing something? I just don't see the Messiah that apparently so many others do. Between his immense popularity and that Jesus phone that came out last Friday, I'm just a little behind. I guess Hillary can always point to the polls and say, 'Scoreboard Suckers!'"

My response: Sen. Hillary Clinton still leads in the polls among the Democratic candidates, and has taken some black support away from Sen. Barack Obama. I don't get it. Sen. Obama is more liberal than Sen. Clinton, opposed the war in Iraq from the jump, and supports virtually everything - if not everything - that black liberals support. Yet there are black liberal leaders and rank-and-file black liberals who instead support Sen. Clinton and Sen. Edwards. It may be black liberals who wind up undermining this brotha's candidacy. Regarding the black leaders in question, could it be a crabs-in-the-barrel mentality fueled by jealousy over his popularity?
