I Smell Opportunity

Angela Winters, a black moderate blogger,writes: "Everyone seemed to really be upset about the murder of those black teens in Newark. Not just because they were young, but because they were good kids. If they had been involved in drug or gang activity, most people would have gone about their business. The execution-style of the murder also made it gruesome. I was personally surprised at the extent to which the mainstream media took the story on. But now that it comes out the alleged murderers were illegal immigrants, people are coming out of the woodwork to share their outrage because they see an opportunity. Case in point, Newt 'I left my wife for my mistress while my wife was sick with cancer' Gingrich is crying out about the how sickened he is over the lack of action on illegal immigration while 'young Americans in our cities are being massacred.' He might have even found the gall to break a tear or two. Now everyone and their grandma wants these guys deported and denied bail. Would they care this much if they couldn't use it as a stab against illegal immigration?"

Ms. Winters continues her commentary: "Deterring crime is clearly a part of illegal immigration. Identity fraud is rampant, violence and break-ins continue to increase in border towns and we constantly hear stories about crimes like rape, child molestation and murder by illegals. But none of these crimes are exclusive to illegal immigrants and its empty for people to only care when this element is added."
