The conservative Republican commentator taunts Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) and former Sen. John Edwards for enlisting their wives to attack Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) among the Democratic field for the 2008 U.S. presidency: "They want to attack Hillary Clinton, but they are afraid of being branded as bullies, harassers, disrespectful and mean spirited by liberal women's groups. So they have enlisted their spouses to attack Clinton for them. Thus the stage is set for a cat fight on the ol' campaign trail. The problem for them is that only one of the kitties involved has claws. Clinton may have all of the pulchritude of the sansabelt pant suits she is known for – but she is one kitty that knows how to defend the liberal campaign litter box, and it would do them well to remember same. But that's not my point as such. Elizabeth Edwards suggested Hillary was not a vocal enough advocate for women's issues. The obvious intent of her sneaky jab being that Hillary stood by as her husband's libido ran amuck. Mrs. Edwards asserted that Hillary had no right to assume people should vote for her based on her gender. Edwards continued her assault with a left-handed lament saying, 'Sometimes you have to behave as a man and not talk about women's issues.' Continuing, she said, '[She] understood the difficulties of trying to be successful in a man's world and sympathized, saying she felt the same pressures when she practiced law.' An argument could be made, however, that Edwards' abandoning her legal career is evidence that she succumbed to said pressures and was broken by them. She went on to accuse Clinton of 'not really talking about poverty' – an issue we are all certain the Edwards family routinely discusses around the kitchen table in their 28,200 sq. ft., 102 acre, $6 million home. Not to be outdone by the Edwards family campaign, the Obama camp engaged in a bit of ramification of their own by utilizing Barack's wife to attack Hillary and tangentially Elizabeth Edwards as well. Michelle Obama questioned Hillary's moral compass – suggesting that experience without same is 'not enough.'"
Mr. Massie continues his commentary: "These two women are attempting to engage Hillary in a cat fight by hurling rocks from the balcony of their glass houses. Their husbands are no better than Hillary and they have even less moral leg to stand on. As they try to tie Hillary to her husband's uncontrolled licentiousness, those charges cannot be levied without their families being accused of ostensibly the same things, just wrapped in different packages. The bottom-line is that Hillary is dishonest, duplicitous, maniacal and shrill, with a bloodlust for power. But, so are they all, and let's not have Elizabeth and Michelle pretend their husbands aren't. Genetics aside, acting like 'a man' might be something the craven John Edwards and Barack Obama might aspire to learn from Hillary. Will they have their wives run out to do their dirty work pursuant to difficult international situations, were they to be elected?"
