Before the US Supreme Court decision on the DC gun ban, he felt the ban was good. Then after the ruling that struck down the ban, he’s supporting the decision and saying 'That’s not what I said…I’ve been very consistent…' He fumbles his words a lot in that 2nd video in response to the question. A clear sign that he knows within himself that he’s lying and trying to cover his tracks. At about the 58 second mark counting up in the 2nd video, he has a tongue slip and almost fully said the word 'contradiction', but quickly catches it and uses the term 'conflicts'."

That's not what I hear. It sounds like he starts to say "controversy" and then corrects it to "conflicts".
He clearly does contradict himself, though, if he thought the law was constitutional and now agrees with the decision that says it's not, all the while saying his view hasn't changed and has always been coherent. It's probably the last element that's false, though.
But Controversy doesn't start with "Contra...", the "a" syllable had already crossed Obama's lips. listen closely.
He gaffed and got caught, but like all politicians he has a spin machine and we will all see an "explanation" from his campain should this get much attention. Same old political games, they are all Washington insiders by nature, the system requires it.
BTW Jeremy, if you read this, I took a look at your blog linked from your name, and I have to say, I found it quite interesting. Really some good stuff there.

Thanks! I don't see how "controversy" and "contradiction" are going to sound all that different. It's true that they're spelled differently, but it's the same exact vowel sound. Since "controversy" fits much better in context, it was what I naturally took him to be saying, even with the post-hypnotic suggestion to take it as "contradiction".
I'm not sure how it would be a gaffe anyway. If he's trying to respond to the charge that he's contradicting himself, a Freudian slip of "contradiction" isn't all that surprising whether he's innocent or guilty of the contradiction charge, so there's really no smoking gun here. I say we stick with showing that he really did contradict himself, which he did, and not worry about whether he's also committing Freudian slips about it, which is much harder to show and shows much less anyway.
