For the first time in more than two years, I'm updating Booker Rising's official policy re: the blog's comment threads. I've added a new rule: no name-calling. There are only seven things that violate Booker Rising's rules:
racial supremacy crap: The quickest ban route. Note the blog's motto: "news site for black moderates and black conservatives". So I sure ain't gonna tolerate "blacks are inferior", "blacks are evil", "blacks are apes" or similar rants on my own dang blog. I will delete any such post. Outright ban or 1 warning, depending on comment foulness.
cursing: "Damn", "hell", or even "ass" are OK. So is only halfway writing out a word (e.g., "bull____"). Leave everything else for the gutter. I will edit any such post to remove the foul language. 3 warnings.
racial and sexual language: Any spelling of the N-word. "Spic", "cracker", "coolie", "kike" or their foreign language equivalents. No calling women the B-word. Depending on the violation, I will either edit or delete any such post. 3 warnings.
name-calling: By name-calling, I mean stuff like "Uncle Tom", "Aunt Jemima", "coon", or some equivalent racial variant. Or any other harsh name-calling epithet geared toward another poster, or to the author of any posts that I put up. If you can't debate your point without throwing out ad hominem attacks, then this blog ain't for you. I will delete any such post. 3 warnings.
libel that can get me or you sued: It has virtually never been an issue, but 2 warnings. I will delete any such post.
posting under multiple names or anonymously: Find a username and stick to it, or let me know when you wanna change it. I will delete any such post. 3 warnings.
threadjacking: Stay on topic within the threads. I will delete any comments not related to the thread at hand, so the conversation stays on focus. If you wanna threadjack, then create and build up your own blog. I have no co-bloggers. 3 warnings.
threatening someone's life or wanting someone dead. Outright ban.
I understand that seven bans since Booker Rising started in May 2004 is a very low rate by blog standards. It attests to the quality and maturity of the folks of various ideological stripes from around the world who visit Booker Rising: moderates, conservatives, liberals, leftists, rightists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, capitalists & Marxists. Let's keep it that way. Even an Islamic extremist once commented on a post...but he stayed within the rules. Thank you, readers!

I agree with all your positions. I too am a fiscal conservative and social moderate/progressive.
I believe we allow our children too many avenues for failure and then we don't even call them failures when they fail.
I believe our parents did us all a favor when they told us we had to be twice as good to get half as far. It made us work harder and expect less. Once the field was "leveled" we were OVER qualified and realized only the sky is our limit....as long as we accept we control our own destinies.

I just heard the outrageous news that Transportation head La Hood plans to take it upon himself to infringe upon one of the basic tenets of freedom! That tenet is communication, therre can be no freedom, there can be no safety for the American population if they are prohibited from communicating between each other, and that need, that right should not be controlled or negated at the whim of some government bureaucrat! LaHood has announced his intention to arbitrarily put in place a system that would disable cell phones in a moving car. If this type of total control can be forced on a supposed "free"society isn't it heart breakingly clear that we are no longer a "free society! To me , this smacks totally of government preparation to control public communication during any situation that they choose to label as an "emergency! I believe the government seeks this power in order to cripple communication between citizens in case of mass resistance to government oppressive policies!
