Local news in Chicago report that this morning, a boy's body was found in the vehicle that police were looking for that is linked to the murders of Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother. The white SUV was found on Chicago's West Side, while the murders happened on the South Side. There has been no official announcement that it is indeed Julian King. However, TMZ is reporting that the Amber Alert for the boy has been stopped. Not looking good at all.
William Balfour, the estranged husband of Ms. Hudson's older sister, remains a "person of interest" and is under detention for a parole violation.
As I said on Saturday, one of the many neighbors who heard the gun shots on Friday should have bothered to pick up a phone and call the police. There was a six-hour gap between the gun shots and the discovery of the bodies of Ms. Hudson's mother and brother. Perhaps they would still be alive had help been quickly called. Those six hours were also precious lost time in the police / FBI search for the boy, sparing his life as well. If Balfour did it, it's on him. However, the Englewood community's nonchalance re: the gun shots did not help the matter.
Have any of my readers had a relative murdered? Fortunately, I have not. I can only imagine the pain. If my close relatives were murdered, I'd have to plead temporary insanity for what I'd do to the murderer.
UPDATE: Police and the medical examiner have officially confirmed that the dead boy found this morning in the SUV was Ms. Hudson's 7-year-old nephew. Like others, I was hoping that lil' Julian would be found safe and sound. What a tragedy My deepest, deepest condolences to the family.
