Case Against Obama Citizenship At SCOTUS

The U.S. Supreme Court tomorrow will hear a challenge to President-Elect Barack Obama's citizenship and consequent eligibility to take the nation's highest office. A lawsuit filed against New Jersey Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells claims that the liberal Democrat is not a "natural born citizen," a constitutional requirement to be president. Attorney Leo Donofrio filed the suit after being denied a court order to stop the November 4 election.

Mr. Donofrio argues that President-Elect Obama was born in Hawaii, but was a British citizen because of his father. Dual citizenship, he says, makes the President-Elect ineligible to take office.

More than a dozen cases challenging the future President's citizenship have been tossed out of courts in several states. President-Elect Obama has also dismissed those accusations and posted a digital copy of his Hawaiian birth certificate online.

This week, the We the People Foundation, an anti-tax activist group in New York, ran ads in the Chicago Tribune raising questions about the authenticity of the certificate. Robert Schultz, the group's chair, contends the document is "unsigned, forged, and thoroughly discredited." However, officials in Hawaii say that President-Elect Obama's original birth certificate is authentic and now locked in a state vault.

At least four of the nine U.S. Supreme Court justices must approve Mr. Donofrio's case before it is heard. It would mark the first time the citizenship of an elected President would go before the high court.

My response: I read that Justice Clarence Thomas was the one who accepted the challenge to go to the conferences of justices, after the case was earlier rejected by Justice David Souter earlier. Of course, black liberals are up in arms over Justice Thomas's move, especially since the Electoral College will meet on December 15 to officially certify the presidential election results. However, the constitution should take predecence. All President-Elect Obama has to do to end this nonsense is just release the vault birth certificate. Why is he using money to fight the lawsuits, and acting like he has something to hide?
