Robert A. George, a black-moderate Republican journalist and blogger, writes: "Tonight the NAACP has its annual Image Awards in LA. And guess which (former?) power couple is [in] the, uh, 'running' (to use a certain singer's big hit) to pick up a statue or two. Yep, Chris Brown and Rihanna. In fairness, there's no reason why the lady shouldn't get an award. However, given the reports on the severity of her injuries from the Brown beat-down, I can't think that a public appearance would do wonders for either her or the NAACP's 'image.'"
Booker Rising response: Who can forget the R. Kelly mess at the 2004 NAACP Image Awards? Let's not even get into Tupac Shakur's nomination in 1994, after he sexually assaulted a woman.
