Ida Ljungqvist Is The First Black Playmate Of The Year!

Politik Ditto, a black conservative Democratic blogger, writes about the 50th woman to be named Playboy Playmate Of The Year: "My guess is that this wasn't on the top of the priority list for Black folks who overwhelmingly voted for Barry this past year begging for 'change', but hey, what the heck....The torch gets passed from one ho to another. Congrats!"

Booker Rising response: Watch it now, PD. Just because ol' girl exposes all for all to see, doesn't mean she's a "ho". Born in Tanzania, the 27-year-old pinup is the first African-born Playmate, and thus the first such Playmate Of The Year. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Tanzanian. Her father worked for UNICEF, so the family lived in 12 different countries. She is fluent in Swedish, Swahili, and English. Ms. Ljungqvist has a degree in fashion design and marketing, with plans to get a Master's degree in communications. She was working at a Beverly Hills boutique when she caught the eye of Sara Jean Underwood, the 2007 Playmate of the Year. Ms. Ljungqvist later became Playboy's Miss March 2008. Along with the title, Ms. Ljungqvist gets a 2009 Mazda6 sports sedan, $100,000 in cash, and an engraved bottle of Patron Platinum. I'm sure she'll be coming to the next rap video near you, because you know rappers are furiously calling her agent...

UPDATE: A reader (Nina) has informed Booker Rising that Ms. Ljungqvist is not the first black Playmate Of The Year. It was Renee Tenison, back in 1990. However, Ms. Ljungqvist is the first African-born Playmate Of The Year.

Renee Tenison (1990) was the first black Playmate of the Year, though she was born in Idaho.
