As folks know, President Obama has been criticized for relying too heavily on his teleprompter for routine remarks and the device has even become jokingly known as "TOTUS" (Teleprompter of the United States of America). President yesterday Barack Obama had just started a spirited defense of his economic stimulus plan when one of his teleprompter screens came loose, crashed to the floor and shattered into pieces:
James Harris, a conservative Republican blogger, writes: "That glass on the floor is TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States of America). It is the brain of the Obama adminstration, and now it is broken. Could this be the change that many of us hope for??? Naaah. There are armies of teleprompters being produced everyday! One for every city, small town and village in the world. This crash may only be symbolic... but it's a start."
Tyrone, a conservative Republican blogger, opines: "Could this be considered an strange fluke that Obama's trusty teleprompter fell and shattered into pieces? An omen is a sign of something about to happen. The 'Hope & Change' 5000 teleprompter was seen as a symbol of Obama's ability to speak with forcefulness and confidence. With Obama's approval rating numbers collapsing among independents, was the shattering of his teleprompter just an 'accident'? Could this truly be an ominous sign of what['s] to come for Obama's administration? I thought it was telling that his teleprompter committed suicide and shattered during his speech on the 'economy'. Can it be said that 'Obama lied and his teleprompter died'?"
On his blog, President Obama's teleprompter says he's OK though.
