Michael Steele: "Obama Is Turning White House Into Donor Resort"

The moderate-conservative head of the Republican National Committee responded to a Washington Times story on Democratic National Committee perks for donors at the White House. "Bill Clinton turned the White House into a hotel and coffee shop. Now President Obama has turned the White House into a full service resort complete with amenities for the highest Democrat bidder. The seriousness of this issue requires an immediate investigation looking into the degree and details of fundraising efforts between the White House and DNC, whether there was any quid pro quo offered to donors, and the names of White House officials who were involved in such activities. The White House should also immediately release the names of donors who have accessed these perks or received special briefings from administration officials. Candidate Obama pledged to clean up the muddy waters of Washington, but President Obama has jumped in head first."

Bloomberg Defends Staff's Contribution To Booker

After throwing his support behind New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's re-election bid, Newark, N.J's Mayor Cory Booker got a boost of his own. About a month after the endorsement, the billionaire moderator mayor's accountant donated $26,000 to the moderate-liberal Democratic mayor's re-election committee. In last night's mayoral debate, Mayor Bloomberg (pictured right) defended the contribution to Mayor Booker (pictured left):

BLOOMBERG: I've given money to Cory Booker, I've held a fundraiser for him. Newark was a disaster, Cory Booker has given them hope. He's the kind of guy Newark needs, he's the kind of guy we need. We need to support more of these kinds of people, and I'm happy to do it.

REPORTER: Bloomberg's Democratic challenger Bill Thompson called it the worst kind of politics there is, saying it shows Bloomberg paid for Booker's endorsement.

A spokesperson for Mayor Booker said the mayors will continue to be supportive of each other.
