France: White Supremacist Leader: "Rama Yade Is Fueling Unpatriotic, Racial Discord"

Marine Le Pen, the vice president of the white supremacist party National Front today called for the abolition of dual citizenship by denouncing the supporters of Algeria in France and remarks attributed to moderate-conservative French Secretary of State for Sport Rama Yade (pictured right)
(article in French). "Yes I believe that we should change the nationality law, it must delete birthright citizenship and I think we should end dual nationality," Le Pen told the media.

"If [French black soccer star] Thierry Henry's hand was Egyptian [Booker Rising note: in a recent World Cup qualifying soccer match against Ireland, Mr. Henry's hand interference with the ball led to a very controversial score and thus win for France], I think he would have been dead," Le Pen said about the supporters of the Algerian soccer team who violently demonstrated in several French cities after the Algerian team qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1986 in a 1-0 win against Egypt. "I think we should ask these young people to choose. We cannot have two nations in the heart, two stripes," continued Le Pen.

Le Pen went for the jugular. "How do you ask these young people to choose when Secretary of State, Ms. Rama Yade, said in her book [the 2007 best-selling book Noirs De France/Blacks Of France], that 'up to age 18 if there had been a war between Senegal and France, I would've chosen Senegal. And since then, I do not know'", Le Pen said.

Sweden: Nyamko Sabuni: "We Must Get Immigrants On A Self-Sufficient & Integrationist Track"

Nyamko Sabuni, and Minister for Integration & Gender Equality, said the vast majority of immigrants in Sweden are like locals, quoting a Swedish leader when she spoke today about the situation of immigrants in Sweden. After citing good examples of immigrants who settled in Sweden - such as hotelier Bicky Chakraborty - Ms. Sabuni (herself an immigrant, originally from Burundi) pointed said that 13 percent of immigrants in Sweden live in neighborhoods marked by alienation (article in Swedish). "However, that alienation can never be an excuse for committing crimes. Guys who are argumentative don't contribute to a better future. Therefore, we also need the best schools and the best teachers in these areas," said the moderate-conservative politico.

She stressed that the median time for an immigrant to get a job is seven years. "It's a waste of resources both for the individual and the government. It requires a paradigm shift in Swedish integration policy. This means that the care of those who come to Sweden be moved from social welfare to employment services", said Minister Sabuni.

Meanwhile, the center-right Liberal People's Party (Ms. Sabuni's political party; think classical liberalism and not the American definition of liberal) has voted against a proposal from the party leadership for the introduction of mandatory courses for all immigrants seeking Swedish citizenship. "Of course I am disappointed, I wanted the proposal to go through," Minister Sabuni said. Many party members voiced a fear that if adopted, the rule would risk the party being associated with the white supremacist Sweden Democrats party. "It is silly to connect integration policy with the Sweden Democrats, that is to ascribe them power which they do not hold [as the Sweden Democrats have no seats in government]," Ms. Sabuni said.
