TAX TAX TAX -- Botax

Kenneth Durden, a libertarian-conservative blogger, discusses a 5% tax on elective cosmetic procedures to help pay for the government-run health care proposal - which has been tagged the "botax": "Democrat overlords in Washington are apparently planning on adding huge taxes on cosmetic surgery. Notice how their answer to everything is a tax. This will be a heavy tax on women and not wealthy women. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports that 91% of cosmetic procedures are done for women. In terms of patient income, 'a 2005 study found that almost 60 percent of people who had recently had plastic surgery or were seriously considering plastic surgery had a household income of $30,000–$90,000 a year.'"

Mr. Durden continues his commentary: "This is just one more place where the Obama lie is exposed that no one who earns under $250K would see their taxes raised. Please get over the personality and look at what the man stands for and what he's doing. If someone were carjacking you, you wouldn't stand and admire how handsome he is and how articulately he said 'Give it up or die.' Eventually I could see this going beyond cosmetic surgery to any procedure the government deems unnecessary. Wouldn't a mammogram for a woman under 50 be an elective procedure too? Would annual cervical cancer screening be elective? If you pay for it out of pocket, they'll probably tax it. This is also just a ploy to keep doctors from avoiding working for the state by choosing to conduct business outside of the government plan. In order to avoid being told how much they can charge for their services, no doubt there are surgeons who will increasingly only see patients who can pay out of pocket. Cosmetic surgery is one area where this happens. The Democrat masters know that and want to keep physicians in line. Heck, why not a tax on any out-of-pocket medical expense? It's coming."

More commentary from Mr. Durden: "How long before our physicians start going to Mexico to practice? We might soon see reverse immigration. If the Mexican government were smart they would create even more incentives for productive Americans to head south. Goodness. Can't you see what they're doing to us? This is about control. They don't care about your health, your safety or your happiness. You are merely a tool of the state."
