The Congressional Black Caucus Goes Hardball: Reaction From The Black Center-Right

DarkStar: "The CBC Grows A Spine?"

The moderate Republican blogger in Maryland opines about how the CBC got $4 billion added to a Wall Street regulation bill and $2 billion to a proposed House jobs bill, after they boycotted a key House committee vote because they said the Obama administration was ignoring growing black unemployment
: "Isn't this interesting? They finally get some spine. There are some people who look at the political opposition to the Obama administration and wonder where this type of anger/fervor/strong opposition was when Bush was in office and wonder if it is because a Black man is president or flat out state the opposition exists because it is a Black man is president. Frankly, I think there is some merit in wondering that, but I want to take this in a slightly different direction. Where was the CBC's spine when the Dems controlled [C]ongress and Clinton was in office? The CBC wouldn't stand up to the almighty 'white man', then, but they'll stand up to 'the brutha'? Why is the CBC not showing the same type of deference to President Obama that they showed to President Clinton? Could it be because they are afraid of the white powers that be in the Democrat[ic] [P]arty? *DAMN SKIPPY*!!! That's right! I put it out there!"

Mr. Grey Ghost: "Congressional Black Caucus Looks Out For Black Americans While Obama Doesn't"

The conservative Democrat in New York
: "Good for the CBC. During his presidency Barry has more than gone out of his way to look out for the gays, while ignoring blacks and focusing on the issues that concern his white, liberal base: global warming, health care reform, etc. Meanwhile, Black unemployment rates take on unprecedented heights. Black Americans have seen white liberals from the Democrat[ic] [P]arty take their votes for granted for decades now, but they expected more from a half-black President who they supported in record numbers (and all they've gotten in return is a half-an-hour visit to New Orleans). Well, enough is enough, and it's about time the few Black members of Congress look out for their own. Maybe now Barry and his white, liberal minions will start paying attention."

Duane Brayboy: “…To Provide Low-Interest Loans To Unemployed Homeowners…”

The conservative blogger in metro Atlanta, Ga. opines: "So the CBC wants access to billions of dollars for among other things to provide low-interest loans. Has anyone stopped to ask WHO would be issuing these loans? Here are the banks that financially support the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.

Citi
Fannie Mae Corporation
Freddie Mac Corporation
Bank of America
JP Morgan Chase
Capital One
Washington Mutual (now Chase)

It is interesting that some of the same banks that were accused of taking advantage of Black folks during the housing bubble are the same institutions that will more than likely benefit from this move by the CBC. Another thing: Since the CBC has just created a mini version of Obama Recovery Act for Blacks & Hispanics, will they also follow suit and create a website that tracks how the money is spent? Next question: Would we even read it?"
