Bookeristas continue to weigh in on the golfer's troubles, as sponsors increasingly kick him to the curb and his approval rating in America gets cut in half:
Stanley Crouch: "Tiger's Tale Is Not About Race: His Poor Taste In Women Is The Real Story"
Asserts the moderate columnist in New York City. He argues that black opposition to interracial relationships stems from the Black Power Movement of the 1960s: "There was a driving force that came from disgruntled black women who didn't like black men resting their head on a pillow with a white woman. It was a fairly understandable reaction to what black women felt when - after risking their lives, being beaten and jailed during the civil rights movement in the South - they could not get a date from a black man because most of them were coupling up with the white girls who laid their lives on the line. Uh-oh. The first time I saw that shift addressed in print was in an article in Southern Exposure written by Cynthia Washington, a Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee veteran. We should all know that an animus developed which led to all of the whites being chased out of SNCC as racism took over. The hate was heavily influenced by the Nation of Islam and had been spread by the charismatic Malcolm X under the banner of pride, self-love, manhood and all of the things that had to be asserted to recover from the vestiges imbibed from the poison spoon of white racism."
Mr. Crouch continues his commentary: "The worst trickle-down effect was shown in the racist article written by the creole Jack White for Time magazine. White wrote that O.J. Simpson had committed a crime against black women by marrying Nicole Brown. No white writer could have written that about any celebrity such as Woody Allen or Robert De Niro, who have often dated outside of their ethnic groups. But with black people, public racism was and is obviously acceptable. Time would not have published such an article during the Civil Rights Movement and any such white writer might even have gotten fired if word of his opinions had slipped out and become public knowledge. Now, however, it seems that men such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are taking their leads from professional racist buffoons like Louis Farrakhan."
More: "It is hypocritical for our media to wag its finger at Tiger Woods after making him into the kind of demigod. Tiger is a young man at the peak of his sexual powers and, like most athletes, he has perfected his body. That can all lead to plenty of trouble right there.' Woods STILL has far more panties thrown at him, from the most high level and sophisticated woman to the skank of the week, than anyone outside of his arena can begin to imagine. Few can handle that much access. He obviously couldn't. Tiger Woods is perhaps most disturbing by his bad taste in women, not because he broke any insipid rule of racial conduct. That's how I see it."
Kevin Jackson: "Tiger Experiences Racism Of The Left"
Asserts the conservative Republican blogger in St. Louis, Mo.: "Tiger has been left by the Left; dangling on that flimsy limb, yes, all because none of his mistresses were black. Liberals are amazingly silent in speaking for Tiger Woods. Maybe they don’t quite know how to handle the major screw up of one of their own who appears wholesome, dare I say, 'conservative!' Up to now, Tiger has played it by the book for the Left. Woods provided that glimmer of hope that the Left could be redeemed. Early on Tiger declared himself a multi-racial person, to a degree denying his blackness, thus encompassing all people....Talk about your rainbow coalition! The 'power Left', aka white elitist[s], loved Tiger’s multi-cultural stance, however Tiger’s declaration angered black folks. The racist elitists won, and Tiger was vindicated in the lamestream media."
More: "Tiger got back in the good graces of blacks by attending the Abomination of Obama, known to the Left as the Inauguration. A number one showing up to support THE one. Yet today, the poster child for ‘multi-racial with no emphasis on being black’ achievement has been left by the Left in his time of need. When you consider that [l]iberal knucklehead Whoopi Goldberg was willing to give Roman Polanski the benefit of the doubt for raping a 13-year old girl, coming to the defense of Woods would have been a no brainer. Perhaps Whoopi’s silence on this subject is based on the shellacking she received by the Left for dating Hollywood hunk, Ted Danson....And where is Reverend 'Baby Daddy'? This is a perfect scenario for Jesse Jackson to offer Woods his counsel, and some obviously much needed spiritual advice."
He continues his commentary: "Ex-president Bill Clinton could have stepped up, come to Tiger’s aid, provided guidance to the young brotha. Yet Clinton has abandoned one of his own, if you consider that many black folks considered Clinton the first black president. Clinton too has left Tiger high and dry, subject to the whims of public scrutiny. Clinton hasn’t even invoked the [l]iberal spin machine to help form opinion about Tiger, turn Tiger’s bad into a good. Like all things Democrat, the real first black president, who happens to be fish-belly white has abandoned Tiger faster than Rosie O’Donnell can eat a chicken wing."
Lloyd Marcus: "Why Such Joy Over Tiger Woods's Humiliation?"
Asks the conservative Republican entertainer in Florida: "Some of you are probably saying 'Toughen up Lloyd, it's rough out there in the real world'. Like [I] said, I could be overly sensitive to the Schadenfreude (glee at another's misfortune) I am witnessing. Tiger is a troubled young man. His brilliance on the golf course has thrilled us for nearly a decade. Suddenly everyone seems to be relishing his self destruction. It feels very wrong to me. I am praying for Tiger and his family. It has been said a fall backward handled correctly can be a spring board forward. It would be wonderful to see Tiger seize this veiled opportunity to prove himself to be a greater champion off the golf course by conquering his demons and restoring his family. Please do not mistake my sympathy as a dismissal of Tiger's trespasses. He screwed up big time! I am simply saying the joy over it all and the excessive coverage is distasteful. Enough already! We got it! Who among us would like every embarrassing detail of our sin exposed? Because Tiger is a worldwide icon, does that make the piling on and lack of compassion for him and his humiliated wife OK? Is there an assumed rule, 'No humanity for celebs'?"
