Gays In The Military: Bookerista Perspectives

D.C. Big Pappa: "DADT And The State Of The Union"

The gay conservative Republican blogger, on military policy on gays: "According to news sources, President Obama is going to mention Don’t Ask Don’t Tell tonight in his State of the Union address. The White House has asked the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), to postpone announcing a hearing that would explore repealing the law that bans openly gay people from serving in the military. Here is my response to this latest development: Mr. President, anything short of initiating a moratorium on the discharge of servicemembers on the basis of their sexuality until Congress has a chan[c]e to act on the repeal of DADT would be unequivocally unacceptable."

Amy Holmes: "Gays In The Military"

The conservative CNN contributor has advice for fellow conservatives about the "don't ask, don't tell" policy: "Now look who’s raising divisive, social wedge issues...But conservatives: Do not take the bait. Tell Obama that good people of goodwill can and do disagree. Much more pressing to the American people is the issue of 10 percent unemployment, the continuing terrorist threat, and bringing the government's wild spending under control. Instead of worrying about gays in the military, our commander in-chief should be far more concerned about Islamic radical terrorists infiltrating our country and our troops, in and out of uniform."
