It's Day 31 of the fundraising campaign. Booker Rising has met 93.8% ($1,595) of its goal! Thanks to past donors for being such an important influence on my blog's program.
I normally hold Booker Rising's second fundraising drive of the year in November. However, I'd like to unveil a redesigned blog on January 1, 2012 for next year's election cycle. To enable me to have enough time in which to raise the necessary funds and give the web designer sufficient time to redesign the blog by the end of the year, I've pushed up the second fundraising campaign up a few weeks.
This year, Booker Rising celebrated its 7th birthday. The blog was last redesigned (its first design) in 2008. Of course, a web redesign costs money. To redesign the blog in the way that I'd like to redesign it, the cost is $2,500. Since I already have some advertising money and money from the fundraising drive earlier this year, that leaves $1,700 left to raise.
Booker Rising is the only one-stop source on the Internet to stay updated on the global black center-right, from America to Zimbabwe. It's the go-to source for black center-right news, amid a vast sea of black center-left news sources. If only 6 of my readers contribute $20, then Booker Rising's blog redesign can get underway (and the earlier that I can provide donors with a "sneak peek" at the redesign).
If you appreciate the work of Booker Rising and would like to see it meet its fundraising and redesign goals, you can donate by clicking on the "Donate" button at the top of the blog. You can donate through PayPal, if you have an account. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can donate using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or Echeck. I should note that contributions are not tax-deductible.

10/31 HALLOWEEN SONG OF THE DAY: Michael Jackson, "Thriller" (1983)
"Thriller" (1983) was the first video to come to my mind for Halloween. Here is the full video, which is the most successful music video of all time. It is the title cut off his outrageously successful album, Thriller. While not my favorite Michael Jackson video (which is "Beat It"), as a teen, I remember it was an event to watch the "Thriller" video:
"Thriller" won the Best Long Form Video Award at the 1985 Grammy Awards. It won the Viewers Choice Award, Best Choreography Award, and Best Overall Performance In A Video Award at the 1984 MTV Awards. In 1999, MTV honored "Thriller" as the Greatest Music Video Ever Made. Given that Michael Jackson basically put MTV on the map, no wonder.

In Cain Allegations, Comparisons Are Drawn To Clarence Thomas
![]() |
| Are ya having a sense of deja vu? |
The article continues: "Parallels were drawn almost immediately by bloggers and on Twitter, including from the Cain campaign itself, which sent a Twitter message on Sunday night shortly after Politico reported the accusations by two women it did not name. 'Sadly, we’ve seen this movie played out before,' the Cain campaign said."
Ann Coulter weighs in: "The reference was then made explicit when Ann Coulter echoed Mr. Thomas’s famous counter-charge that he was the victim of a 'high-tech lynching' because of his conservatism. 'This is another high-tech lynching,' Ms. Coulter asserted, shifting the focus from the substance of the accusations to an attack on the news media and 'liberals.'"
More about the comparisons: "In an online post, Commentary pointed out that the strategy had worked for Mr. Thomas and could likewise end up rallying support to Mr. Cain: 'Among conservatives, Thomas remains a hero not just because of his jurisprudence but because they seem him as an innocent victim of a media establishment out to humiliate and punish any African-American who stepped outside of the liberal consensus.'"

Fox To Reboot 'In Living Color' With Keenen Ivory Wayans
No way will the reboot be as good as the original, because the vast majority of comedians these days ain't funny. From Deadline (hat tip: theGrio.com): "Fox is bringing back its groundbreaking 1990s sketch comedy series In Living Color with the series' creator and star, Keenen Ivory Wayans, on board as host and executive producer. Fox has ordered two In Living Color half-hour specials to air as part of the network's 25th anniversary celebration in midseason with a series option behind them, meaning that in success, the reboot will join Fox's schedule as a regular series next season."
More: "I hear it was Wayans' idea to revive the popular sketch comedy series with a new cast. The new In Living Color will be produced by his production company Ivory Way Prods. in association with 20th Century Fox TV's Fox 21. Like the remake, the original In Living Color, which was produced by Ivory Way Prods and 20th TV, also launched in midseason, premiering on April 15, 1990. It broke stereotypes by employing a cast of mostly black comedians and introducing hip-hop and dancing to mainstream television."

Herman Cain: "These Sexual Harassment Allegations From The '90s Are A Witch Hunt Against A Brotha"
![]() |
| Cain: "it ain't so" |
The article continues about Herman Cain's press conference: "Declaring at the National Press Club that he 'would be delighted to clear the air,' Mr. Cain said that he is unaware of any settlements paid to his accusers. 'It was concluded after a thorough investigation that it had no basis,' Mr. Cain said to questions by Mark Hamrick, the president of the press club after Politico first reported on the allegations. 'I am unaware of any settlement. I hope it wasn’t for much, because I didn’t do anything.'"
More: "In the press club remarks, Mr. Cain said that he had 'recused myself' during the investigation into the charges made by the women. He derided the report in Politico as being based on 'anonymous sources.' 'We are not going to chase anonymous sources, when there are no basis for the accusation,' Mr. Cain said. 'I have never sexually harassed anyone and those accusations are totally false.'"

Wilder Trying To Reorganize, Restart Bankrupt Slavery Museum
![]() |
| Douglas Wilder |
More about the proposed museum: "Wilder, the museum’s chairman, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the museum in September. Documents show the museum has about $7 million in debts and no cash, its only real asset the land at Celebrate Virginia. That land was donated to the museum and assessed at about $7.6 million, but the city of Fredericksburg is preparing to auction it off to pay back taxes of about $300,000 that the museum hasn’t paid. No actual museum has ever been built on the land in Fredericksburg. The museum’s ability to solicit charitable donations expired, and Wilder earlier this year said the recession had made fundraising difficult."

Well, That Was Quick....
I figured that the Kardashian-Humphries marriage would last at least three or four months, because Kris Humphries is unemployed, earns far less, and is "too light-skinned" compared to Kim Kardashian's usual men. However, they're giving up even quicker than I expected. Sandra Rose, a conservative blogger in Georgia, writes about Kim Kardashian filing for divorce ("irreconciliable differences") after only two months. She wants Kris Humphries to pay his own attorney's fees and for the court to reject any move by him to claim spousal support: "The made-for-TV wedding between Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries is over. The divorce papers have been filed and the $17 million checks have been deposited in the banks. The only losers are the public who fell for the sham of a wedding. But if you read Sandrarose.com, you already knew that Kim Kardashian just wanted the ring and the exposure."

Cain Team Denies Report Of Sexual Harassment
| Say it ain't so, Cain |
The article continues about the allegations: "In a statement Sunday to The Associated Press, his campaign disputed a Politico report that said Cain had been accused of sexually suggestive behavior toward at least two female employees. The report said the women signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them five-figure financial payouts to leave the association and barred them from discussing their departures. Neither woman was identified. The report was based on anonymous sources and, in one case, what the publication said was a review of documentation that described the allegations and the resolution. Cain's campaign told the AP that the allegations were not true, and amounted to unfair attacks."

Lurita Doan: "Obama Needs Voter Amnesia"
Asserts the conservative Republican commentator, who is a former federal government official under the Bush II administration: "In fact, Obama holds the dubious honor of having perhaps the largest percentage -- ever -- of nominated and appointed officials who didn't pay their taxes. Just for starters, there's Tim Geithner, Hilda Solis, Tom Daschle, Nancy Kilefer, Kathleen Sibelius, Ronald Kirk, Gregory Craig, Rahm Emanuel -- just to name a few, who did not fully pay their taxes. Of course, these are the nominees whose issues have come to light because they chose to proceed with the nominations. There are likely a slew of others whose issues were so severe, they never made it past the vetting process. What is painfully clear is that Obama believes that tax policy should apply differently to his friends and supporters than to the rest of the nation. So why is it surprising that Obama hopes that Americans will simply forget how shamefully he has embraced tax cheats while simultaneously berating other Americans to pony up and 'pay their fair share'?"
She ain't done yet: "Obama said he would create 3.5 to 4 million jobs, instead, America has seen 32 consecutive months of unemployment over 8%. Obama said it is time to get America's fiscal house in order, expecting Americans to ignore his unprecedented hypocrisy in the 34 months that he has been in office, where Obama has run up $5 trillion dollars of debt. Obama said that the $787 billion dollar stimulus would solve our nation's unemployment problems and grow the economy. Instead, Americans have to listen as Obama plays the blame game, explaining why the stimulus didn't work and Standard & Poor downgraded the U.S.' credit rating."

Conservative Women's Group: "Cain, Explain Yourself"
From Politico: "Concerned Women for America, the right-leaning women’s group, is calling on Herman Cain to say whether he faced complaints about his personal behavior from female employees at the National Restaurant Association who later left the organization with financial settlements. CWA president Penny Nance told POLITICO: 'I think Herman Cain needs to directly answer the question.' 'Early in my career I resigned from a trade association for the exact same reason and with no financial settlement. I simply found another job,' Nance said. 'Therefore, I know in a very personal way that sexual harassment exists and that it's demeaning and painful. It should never be tolerated in the workforce and certainly not the White House.'"
More from Concerned Women of America's president: "She continued, though, saying the report of sexually suggestive behavior toward women was not 'consistent with my experience with Herman Cain.' 'I have to say in all fairness that this characterization is completely contrary to the Herman Cain I know. Herman Cain has only been 100% respectful and deferential to me. I have never heard other women in conservative political circles complain of his behavior and they would complain loudly,' Nance said. 'Our character and reputations are really all we have at the end of the day. Before I besmirch Herman Cain's I would need more than this.'"

Buthelezi: "The ANC Is Headed For Turmoil"
Asserts the center-right Zulu nationalist. From the Sowetan (South Africa): "IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi says the ANC is sitting on a 'powder keg of social and political upheaval' as it heads to its conference in Mangaung and its centenary celebrations next year. 'We are sitting on a powder keg of social and political upheaval. This much is clear from the march on Thursday that split the ANC and its alliance partners, Cosatu and the SACP, on the issue of nationalisation and land expropriation. A message like that, emanating from within the ruling party's structures, is damaging to South Africa's economic prospects,' he said yesterday. 'Where once the ANC seemed to be a rock that could not be moved, it is now showing cracks and fissures that could shatter it .'"

Star Parker: "America Should Listen To Paul Ryan"
![]() |
| Rep. Paul Ryan |
She continues her commentary: "Ryan contrasts this individual-centered, bottom-up, principles driven vision, with the take on things of our current administration. They believe everything starts in Washington, and that they can design, create, and finance with taxpayers’ money, a prosperous, just America. But our president has had three years to work his liberal experiment, with economic recovery barely discernible today, and recent Gallup polling showing only 13 percent of Americans satisfied with how things are going. So now, as Ryan points out, without a platform of success to run on, President Obama has opted for a strategy of class warfare."

Cain, Romney Tied In Survey Of Iowa Republicans
Well, at least before the just-released allegations. From Businessweek: "Businessman Herman Cain and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney are in a statistical tie for the most support among Republicans in Iowa, where the presidential nomination contests start Jan. 3, a poll shows. The Iowa Poll, conducted by the Des Moines Register newspaper, shows Cain with the support of 23 percent of likely caucus participants and Romney backed by 22 percent."
More: "Texas Governor Rick Perry has considerable work to do in Iowa, the poll shows, if he wants to regain his standing in the race. Perry has support from 7 percent of likely caucus-goers in the poll, trailing Representative Ron Paul of Texas at 12 percent. Besides Cain and Romney, Paul was the only other Republican candidate to exceed 10 percent."

Texas Billboards: "GOP Is The New Black"
From theGrio.com (see local media video about the billboards here): "Conservative group Raging Elephants delivered what they call 'a gut shot to socialists' when they unveiled three new billboards in Austin, Texas touting that the 'GOP is the new black.' The ads were released to encourage more black voters to embrace the Republican party. Raging Elephants contends that many African-Americans share conservative viewpoints on a number of social issues such as abortion and marriage and should vote that way."
The article continues: "Raging Elephants is linked to conservative activist Apostle Claver Kamau-Imani, who recently said that Democrats are the party of the Klu Klux Klan. His image is prominent on two of the four ads, which the group hopes will 'stir up a storm on the plantation.'"
More: "The signs definitely have people talking. One sign in particular that hangs over Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in East Austin is drawing mixed reviews from residents there. It says: Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. But this is a controversial claim that has never been substantiated. Austin NAACP president Nelson Linder told KVUE News that he feels the signs are disrespectful and that black voters should vote based on whether issues that affect the community, including unemployment and police brutality, are addressed by either party."

National Black Chamber Of Commerce Scouts For Business Opportunities In Botswana
From Xinhua (China), about the organization headed by conservative Harry Alford Jr.: "Botswana’s enterprises association said on Wednesday transparency and democratic values of the country has lured black Americans to scout for business opportunities in the diamond rich nation. In a statement released Wednesday, the Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) said the National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) in the United States, an economic empowerment movement of African American communities, has been in Botswana to explore business potential."
The article continues about NBCC's growing work in Botswana: "The mission consisting of 15 potential investors focusing on mining and energy, banking processing, infrastructure development and water management, security protection services, hotel construction and management, textile and apparel, health care and agribusiness, is expected to forge business linkages with local businesses."
More about NBCC's work over in the Motherland: "According to NBCC, Africa is on the chamber’s radar but the priority is on Kenya, Botswana, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and South Sudan. 'We are putting together a formal Strategic Plan as to how we will integrate our willing business owners with the talent and opportunities of these nations,' said NBCC President, CEO and cofounder Harry Alford on the chamber’s website."

Obama Has Lost Many Donors From 2008 Presidential Race
![]() |
| Obama can't be happy about this news |
The article continues about the liberal Democratic president: "Obama's re-election effort is hardly hurting for cash: His campaign and the Democratic Party raised more than $70 million for Obama's re-election in the July-September period, outstripping all Republicans combined by tens of millions of dollars. But the AP's analysis indicates that Obama, beleaguered by a struggling economy, has lost early support from some of his larger financial supporters and will have to work harder to win back party stalwarts and swing voters alike. Obama's approval ratings have slumped to 41 percent in a recent Gallup poll, and steadfast supporters have found themselves less able or less willing to open their wallets again."
More about the 2012 fundraising cycle: "But Obama's contributions this recent fundraising quarter -- absent support from the Democratic National Committee -- are less than the combined cash given to all Republican candidates, hinting at an influx of money to whomever Republicans chose as their nominee. Observers have said this election likely will cost more than $1 billion. The Obama campaign, for its part, said more than a million people have given to the president's 2012 re-election efforts, a mix of hundreds of thousands of new and returning donors that spokesman Ben LaBolt said points to 'evidence of a growing organization.'"

SAMUEL GONZALEZ COMMENTARY: For Liberals, Income Inequality Is The New Global Warming
The conservative Republican blogger in New York writes: "[Rush] Limbaugh always says, everything about Liberalism is a lie. Liberals operate in a world of poll tested templates that they create to manipulate how people think. This is the biggest reason why Libs are dependent on the ignorance of people to better manipulate them with catchy phrases like 'income inequality'. It sounds like something that is important to be concerned about because they so. However, Libs never bother to explain exactly how so-called income inequality happens."
He continues his commentary: "For example, if a guy drops out of [h]igh [s]chool, doesn’t have a marketable skill other than hanging out at a street corner with his boys drinking a 40, and the only job he can get pays 12 K, Liberals say that there’s something wrong with the American system and it’s 'unfair' to have income inequality. It’s not important to them to point out that the next guy stayed in school, didn’t get a woman pregnant, graduated college while working that 12 K job, went on to grad school, or got a job paying 35K, and didn’t expect the government to take care of him. All these are inconvenient truths that aren’t important to Libs because they live [in] a vacuum where past history is irrelevant."

Judge Approves Black Farmers Settlement
From the Associated Press: "A federal judge has given final approval to a $1.2 billion government settlement with black farmers who claim they were unfairly denied loans and other assistance from the Agriculture Department over many years. Federal judge Paul Friedman approved the settlement late Thursday. He said it will likely take about a year for neutral parties to review claims and then all of the settlements will be paid out at once."
The article continues: "This is the second round of settlements in the 1999 case known as the Pigford case, after the original plaintiff, North Carolina farmer Timothy Pigford. The settlement is directed at farmers who were denied payments in the first round because they missed deadlines for filing. Congress passed the settlement last year."

A Coin Flip
Charles Payne, a FOX Business analyst and conservative in New York, discusses the Super Committee: "For those Europeans that might feel slighted at the American media coverage of the Greek debt crisis, the chance to get in on the laughs has arrived. That's because the clock is ticking louder for our own Super Committee to come up with budget cuts that would stave off automatic cuts known as sequestration."
He continues his commentary: "Then, we found out that an early stumbling block amounts to chump change - in more ways than one. There is a battle going on over whether or not America should dump the paper dollar in favor of dollar coins. The battle is not only an embarrassment but underscores just how tall an obstacle this mountain will be to scale. And it's not that it boils down to party ideology, it's about protecting backyards and local constituencies. Case in point, John Kerry (D-MA) and Scott Brown (R-MA) are putting on a united front on this issue because the company that makes the paper for US currency, Crane, is located in the Bay State."
He can't believe there's a fight over the issue: "As it stands, the Federal Reserve says it has $1.2 billion in excess $1.00 coins stored in vaults, and by 2016 the government will have laid out $300.0 million to produce $2.0 billion worth. This whole debate is happening at the wrong time and place. Ironically, it's probably moot since one day children in this country will not know paper or coins, growing watching commerce happen via smart phones and tablets. Plus, I hate all those coins. They weigh too much, mess up your clothes, and it would take a wheel barrow of them to get me through one New York day that begins with a $12.00 toll to just enter the city."

Santorum Bashes Cain On Abortion In New Campaign Ad, But Black Pro-Lifers Defend Cain
![]() |
| Rick Santorum (pictured left) and Herman Cain |
Black pro-lifers disagree: "However, a group of black pro-life leaders released a statement today to LifeNews saying he is pro-life and basing that call on 'his clear Pro-Life position and years of participation to end the staggering abortion rate in the Black community and in the general population of America.' We the undersigned stand in full support of Mr. Cain’s stated Pro-Life position of affirming life from conception until natural death; his strong support for a Human Life Amendment; and his history of involvement in the Pro-Life community’s fight for life. Cain’s pro-life stance, coupled with his history of support both financially and otherwise, clearly represent that Mr. Cain is a bona fide Pro-Life candidate,' they say in the statement."
More from their statement: "'Here are a few examples of Mr. Cain’s active involvement in issues related to the Pro-Life concerns: during his 2004 campaign for Senate in Georgia Mr. Cain made life one of his main issues, he signed Georgia Right to Life’s affirmation which is one of the more strict affirmations in the nation. And it is widely reported that he has made contributions exceeding a million dollars to promote the Pro-Life message in the Black Community.'"

South African Opposition Elects Black Woman As No. 2
| Lindiwe Mazibuko: future president? |
The article continues about Ms. Mazibuko: "With just two years' parliamentary experience, Mazibuko's critics argue that she lacks experience, while supporters say her eloquence and intelligence will attract middle class black voters to a still overwhelmingly white political party. She is being tipped as a future successor to Helen Zille, who has worked hard to increase the DA's cross-cultural appeal. Since coming to power at the end of apartheid in 1994, the African National Congress has dominated elections, with the DA mostly attracting minority votes in the white, Indian and mixed race 'coloured' communities. It has been credited for its good governance and lower crime rates in the Western Cape, the province it runs, and has grown from just 2 percent of the vote in 1994 to 24 percent in May local elections."

Is Artur Davis Creepin' To The GOP Side?
![]() |
| Artur Davis |
More about Mr. Davis' campaign contributions: "Asked by the The Daily Caller to explain the curious donations, Davis equivocated on his support for Mississippi gubernatorial hopeful Phil Bryant. 'I wrote a contribution to Phil Bryant in Mississippi,' he told TheDC. 'I also wrote a contribution in the primary to Johnny Dupree, the Democrat who’s running.' Davis told TheDC that his support for Wilson stems from what he saw of the New Mexico Republican candidate during their time in the House of Representatives. 'This check was not solicited,' he said. 'I just happen to have been talking about Heather with a former colleague of ours, and that just inspired me to go online and make a contribution to her. I served with Heather Wilson in Congress for, I think, four years. I have a lot of admiration for her as a person,' Davis told TheDC."

African-American Genealogy: The Best No-Cost Websites
TheRoot.com publicizes its list, which includes AfriGeneas, Christine's Genealogy Website, lists of free black Americans before the Civil War, the Freedman's Bureau Online, HeritageQuest Online, and LowCountry Africana.
Booker Rising response: I'm surprised that FamilySearch.org isn't on TheRoot.com's list. Say what you will about the Mormons, but they are one of black Americans' best friends when it comes to genealogy. The Mormons have one of the world's largest collections of genealogical records, and that includes black folks' records. It's free, and I've found long-dead relatives there that I haven't found elsewhere.

Cain: "Perry's Plan Is Flat Tax Lite"
![]() |
| Herman Cain (pictured left) and Rick Perry |
Mr. Cain continued to go in on Governor Perry's plan: "'Every interview that I do now till the end of the week, they’re going to want to compare it to the 999 plan,' said Cain, who elaborated on the many differences between his plan and Perry’s plan. 'It’s not a true flat tax. It’s flat tax lite. The reason it['s] flat tax lite is because he still retains some favorite deductions — which means the lobbyists are still going to work hard to get their favorite deduction put back in. So that defeats the purpose. Secondly, it doesn’t take out embedded taxes. The embedded taxes are still there. Why? Because the 20 percent flat personal tax and the 20 percent flat tax on businesses still causes business to pass those taxes onto consumers. So he didn’t remove embedded taxes.'"
More: "Cain then faulted Perry’s plan for not eliminating loopholes inherent in the current tax code. 'He just basically collapsed all of the tax brackets into one. That’s all it is. That’s why I call it flat tax lite,' he said. 'Here’s the other big difference. It doesn’t expand the base. As long as you’re only taxing income, the only way to raise revenue is to raise taxes. The reason he ends up with a 20 percent rate versus a 9 percent rate is because with 9-9-9 we expanded the base. We have income tax and we expanded the base by adding the national sales tax. And when you expand the base you can get the lowest rate possible for everybody,' Cain said."

Obama's Plan Supposedly Eases Student Debt Burden
Kenneth Durden, a libertarian-conservative blogger, writes: "President Obama released his new student loan forgiveness plan that also includes a 'pay as you earn' provision. Delayed payments are one thing, but I have a problem with magically wiping away loan debt. It does not go away. Someone has to make that payment, even if it is a future generation of taxpayer."
He continues his commentary: "Trust me, I'd love to have someone wipe out my student loans. I have loans on me from paying for 2 people to go to college. But this was a responsibility I took upon myself. I cannot expect someone else to pay. What kind of society do we have where everyone wants others to assume the risk while they receive the reward?"
More: "Critics are pointing out that the plan won't help many people. It appears that the president's plan is little more than election-year posturing. Others are pointing out that Mr. Obama does not have the legal authority to take the step."

Buthelezi Blames ANC For South Africa's Woes
From The Mercury (South Africa), about the center-right Zulu nationalist: "IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi says the current situation in the country, characterised by waves of public service protests and high levels of violence and criminality, was a case of the chickens coming home to roost."
The article continues: "Addressing a ceremony in Durban yesterday, where he received a leadership award from a Nigerian Christian movement, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Buthelezi said the ANC Youth League’s economic freedom protests were the legacy of the ANC’s call to make the country ungovernable in the 1980s. 'I warned them that if they made the country ungovernable, this would continue even after we had taken over the government. If you look now, that is what is happening today,' he said. 'The legacy of the armed struggle is a society of heightened violence and criminality, with less respect for the rule of law. The legacy of the sanctions and disinvestment the ANC advocated during apartheid is an economy that is not able to sustain all its people; unemployment is high and poverty pervasive,' Buthelezi said."

Thanks For Cleaning Up Atlanta, Mayor Reed
Duane Brayboy, a conservative blogger in Atlanta metro, writes about the "Occupy Atlanta" battle: "Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed finally decided to man up against the Occupy Woodruff Park protesters after telling them that he would leave them alone. The man that calls himself 'The Black Drudge' (Rob Redding) said evicting the protestors would 'deface' the image of Atlanta. Naw, dawg. THIS defaces the image of Atlanta. Grown folks in public repeating one another like 2 year olds while thumbing their noses to a civil rights icon."

Obama's Threat: "Y'all Are On Your Own If I Don't Win"
Kenneth Durden, a libertarian-conservative blogger, writes: "Insufferably arrogant President Obama threatens voters abut the 2012 election. If you don't keep him in power 'You’re on Your own.' Yep, that's right. You poor, pathetic idiots will all die without me. Here is the actual quote:
“If you get sick, you’re on your own. If you can’t afford college, you’re on your own. If you don’t like that some corporation is polluting your air or the air that your child breathes, then you’re on your own,” he said. “That’s not the America I believe in. It’s not the America you believe in.”This is sick. Sad. Mr. Obama has such a high opinion of himself and such a low opinion of the individual and private industry. He counts on the fact that most people do not think critically and are woefully ignorant of the fact that there are constitutional limitations on the power of the federal government. We now have a huge portion of our citizenry that thinks they cannot survive without the State providing their needs and wants. Obama and so many other politicians want people to feel helpless without them. That is how they gain and maintain power. This is not compassion. It is control. This is serfdom, not liberty. Wake up."

Do You Want Booker Rising To Grow? Only $480 Left To Raise!
It's Day 27 of the fundraising campaign. Booker Rising has met 71.8% ($1,220) of its goal thus far. Thanks to past donors for being such an important influence on my blog's program!
If only 24 of my readers contribute $20, then the blog redesign can get underway (and the earlier that I can provide donors with a "sneak peek" at the redesign).

10/26 Quote Of The Day
"I do not think it unfair to suggest much of the Occupy Movement is the result of Obama administration rhetoric. Barack Hussein Obama is incapable of being an inspirational president to non victim minded mainstream traditional Americans who love their country. It is simply not in his DNA. Obama appeals to the lower nature of a minority of Americans; OWS, arrogant, ungodly, lazy and stupid. As I stated, we have two Americas. We have Obama's America and the America of us patriots. The greatest nation on the planet deserves and requires a president of 'all the people' divinely led to inspire the best in us." — Lloyd Marcus, Tea Party activist and conservative Republican entertainer

Apostle Claver: "Democrats Are The Party Of The KKK"
I'm sure Democrats are crying foul. However, Mr. Claver's claim is historically correct. From theGrio.com, a liberal website (see video here): "Conservative activist Apostle Claver Kamau-Imani, chairman of the right wing blog RagingElephants.com, called the Democrats a racist party of the Klu Klux Klan at a Houston rally. 'They're the racists, not us,' he said alluding to the Democratic [P]arty's past affiliation with Jim Crow and segregation. The words were spoken at an event sponsored by the Clear Lake Tea Party where Herman Cain was the keynote speaker."
The article continues: "Cain took the stage after Kamau-Imani and has not condoned nor condemned Kamau-Imani's comments. 'Our campaign is all about promoting civil dialogue -- while there may be differences of opinion on a wide variety of topics, we believe in never being disagreeable,' Cain's spokesman told NBC News. Kamau-Imani continued with his comments, name-calling prominent individuals. 'Somebody needs to get in Al 'Shakedown' Sharpton's face and call him a liar. Somebody needs to get in Cornell [sic] West's face and call him a bald face gap tooth liar.' And that's not all. 'Somebody needs to get in front of Jesse 'castration' Jackson and call him a liar.' Cain was not in attendance while Claver was speaking and his spokesman said he does not think the presidential hopeful was aware of Kamau-Imani's contentious remarks."

WALTER E. WILLIAMS OP-ED: Profits Are For People
The libertarian economics professor argues that Occupy Wall Street protesters are wrong that profits are the source of humanity's troubles: "First, let's get both the definition and magnitude of profits out of the way. Profits represent the residual claim earned by entrepreneurs. They're what are left after other production costs -- such as wages, rent and interest -- have been paid. Profits are the payment for risk taking, innovation and decision-making. As such, they are a cost of business just as are wages, rent and interest. If those payments are not made, labor, land and capital will not offer their services. Similarly, if profit is not paid, entrepreneurs won't offer theirs. Historically, corporate profits range between 5 and 8 cents of each dollar, and wages range between 50 and 60 cents of each dollar."
More: "Far more important than simple statistics about the magnitude of profits is the role played by profits, namely that of forcing producers to cater to the wants and desires of the common man. When's the last time we've heard widespread complaints about our clothing stores, supermarkets, computer stores or appliance stores? We are far likelier to hear people complaining about services they receive from the post office, motor vehicle and police departments, boards of education and other government agencies. The fundamental difference between the areas of general satisfaction and dissatisfaction is the pursuit of profits is present in one and not the other."

Center-Rightist Elected To Poland's National Legislature
| MP Killion Munyama |
MP Killion Munyama is Poland's second black parliamentarian (both of Poland's black parliamentarians are center-right): "Born in 1961 in Makala, outside the Zambian capital Lusaka, Munyama came to communist-era Poland in 1982 to take an economics degree. As Poland shifted rapidly to the free market, he stayed on to do a PhD on the role of the International Monetary Fund in Zambia's economic reforms, graduating in 1994. He has since been a lecturer in international finance and also runs a consultancy preparing bids for funding from the European Union, which Poland joined in 2004. Munyama entered politics in 2002 as a local councillor in the town of Grodzisk Wielkopolski, in charge of its international relations and EU funding bids. The first black member of parliament in Poland was Nigerian-born John Godson, 40, from the central city of Lodz."

Here's More Crony Capitalism From The Federal Government's Clean Energy Push
Responding to public outrage following an ABC News report that a $529 million loan from the Energy Department was used to back electric car company Fisker Automotive -- which is creating jobs in Finland -- policy experts at the National Center for Public Policy Research are calling attention to the crony capitalism surrounding clean energy loans and grants.
In addition to the $529 million loan to Fisker Automotive, Silver Spring Networks, a company developing a smart electricity grid, will also benefit from the clean energy stimulus grants. According to the New York Times, about $560 million of smart grid grants awarded by the Energy Department "went to utilities with which Silver Spring has contracts." Gore and Doerr, the latter of whom is a member of President Obama's jobs panel, have close political connections with the Administration.
"Given the failure of Solyndra we simply can't afford to gamble with taxpayer money to enrich the business elite. Congress needs to stop authorizing clean energy stimulus funds and the Department of Energy Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program - the source of the Fisker Automotive loan. The use of government funds to support private entities whose investors have political connection is crony capitalism, which distorts the free-market system," said Deneen Borelli of the National Center-sponsored African-American leadership group Project 21. "The Occupy Wall Street protesters need to recognize that crony capitalism and not capitalism is the problem," said Deneen Borelli.

White House Insists Operation In Africa Is A Limited Mission
From the Associated Press: "The U.S. military operation against a ruthless guerrilla group accused of widespread atrocities is a short-term deployment with the specific goal of ending the threat of the Lord's Resistance Army in Africa, Obama administration officials insisted on Tuesday. Facing skeptical members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, administration officials said the roughly 100 American troops -- mostly U.S. Army Special Forces -- had been dispatched to central Africa as advisers to regional forces pursuing leader Joseph Kony and top commanders of the Lord's Resistance Army. The U.S. designated the group a terrorist organization in 2001."
The article continues: "Alexander Vershbow, the assistant secretary of Defense for international security affairs, said the guerrilla group had been reduced to about 200 core fighters spread across vast jungle terrain in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic and South Sudan. However, Kony and other commanders remain at large and continue to order atrocities, which required U.S. help with intelligence and coordination of operations. 'There are no doubt significant long-term challenges associated with building partner capacity in Africa, but this is a short-term deployment with specific goals and objectives,' Vershbow told the committee. He later added: 'If we think adjustments to the mission are warranted over time, we will consider them. If we do not believe our collective efforts are resulting in significant progress, we will not continue this deployment.' Pressed by lawmakers for a timetable, Vershbow said he couldn't offer any specifics, but 'we're talking months. We will review in a few months.'"

House Votes To Honor First Black Marines
| Montford Point Marines in 1943 |
The article continues: "The black Marines received their basic training adjacent to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, where conditions were harsh and the treatment from their fellow Marines could be even harsher. The black Marines were not allowed to enter Camp Lejeune unless accompanied by a white officer. In the few times they participated in training exercises, they could not eat until the white Marines had finished. They were routinely passed over for promotions. 'People forget they were fighting two wars -- both foreign and domestic,' Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-Ga., said. More than 300 lawmakers were co-sponsors of the legislation, providing Republicans and Democrats with a rare moment of bipartisanship. Lawmakers from both parties spoke in favor of the resolution, which was sponsored by Rep. Corrine Brown, D-Fla."

Herman Cain Hit By Tax Lien In 2008
| Cain: no lover of the IRS |
More about his past tax troubles: "Perhaps some of Cain's anti-tax fervor can be traced to his own past encounters with the taxman. According to documents obtained by ABC News, in February 2008, the Georgia Department of Revenue hit Cain and his wife Gloria with a lien for $8558.46 in unpaid personal income taxes from 2006. Cain's campaign was quick to point out to ABC News that Cain was undergoing treatment for Stage 4 cancer in 2006. A Cain spokesman said that due to his illness, Cain had requested -- and was granted -- a six-month extension of his federal taxes and had requested the same from the state, which Georgia allows. Nevertheless, the state sent a delinquency notice to Cain in late 2007 and filed the lien in early 2008. Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon said Cain's accountant had protested the delinquency to no avail."

Herman Cain Tops Mitt Romney In Latest CBS/NYT Poll
From CBS News, about the conservative Republican businessman and presidential candidate: "Businessman Herman Cain is now atop the field of Republican White House hopefuls, squeaking past former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the latest CBS News/New York Times poll. Cain garnered 25 percent support of Republican primary voters in the poll released on Tuesday, compared to Romney's 21 percent. In early October, the two men were tied at 17 percent."
The article zeroes in on exactly whom is supporting Mr. Cain's candidacy: "Cain's support surged among voters who identified with the conservative Tea Party wing of the Republican party, rising to 32 percent in mid-October from 18 percent just a few weeks ago. That's more than four times the level of support he had from the group in mid-September."

Herman Cain Is Wooing Wall Street With A $999 Fundraiser
From Business Insider, about the conservative Republican businessman and presidential candidate: "After reporting only 'several hundred thousand dollars' cash on hand at the end of September, Cain has turned his fortunes around, according to his campaign, raising nearly $3 million in as many weeks with the type of major metropolitan fundraisers expected of top-tier presidential campaigns."
More about Mr. Cain's $999 fundraiser: "After raising cash in Chicago and other parts of the Midwest this month, Cain will foray into the New York fundraising scene on November with a Russian Tea Room luncheon that (predictably) costs $999-a-head. According to a copy of the invitation obtained by Politico, Cain — the former pizza titan who prides himself on being the 'Main Street' to Mitt Romney's 'Wall Street' — appears to have lured at least a couple of New York bankers and financiers into his camp. The list of hosts features UBS VP Jonathan Burkan, a former Tim Pawlenty supporter; venture capitalist Ken Abramowitz, another former TPaw backer who was also a major bundler for John McCain in 2008; and Mark Goldwasser, president and CEO of National Holdings Corp. The list also includes managing directors from GE Capital and JPMorgan, as well as at least one Manhattan real estate investor."

Michele Norris Resigns As NPR Host: Bookerista Reaction
Ms. Norris resigned from her National Public Radio host position because her husband has joined U.S. President Barack Obama's re-election campaign, and she was concerned about a conflict of interest. Bookeristas weigh in on the news:
Constructive Feedback: "Credit Due To Michele Norris"
The conservative blogger in Georgia writes: "Michele Norris - a journalist with the desire to retain the integrity of her craft, has chosen to reside [sic] her position as an on the air personality with NPR so that her husband's role with the 'Obama 2012 Reelection Campaign' does not raise issues about her impartiality. Mrs Norris did what many of her 'NABJ' [National Association of Black Journalists] associates (assuming that she is a member of NABJ) won't do. Their main job IS to secure the reelection of President Obama and the advancement of progressive public policy though the promotion of the Democratic Party that their choice to reside their positions in deference to the integrity of their craft would mean that they have yielded the key gateway through which they obtain their main objective."
Dennis Sanders: "Michele Norris Leaves NPR"
The moderate Republican blogger in Minnesota writes: "I think Norris doing the right thing. As to her husband taking a job on the Obama campaign? Well, I do think we can expect the partners of journalists to live in some kind of bubble. It’s not a secret that NPR tends to lean left, but I’ve always thought they’ve done a good job with reporting. I still think NPR dropped the ball in how they handled the whole Juan Williams fiasco, but I think they’ve done right this time."
