Asserts the moderate-conservative Republican and anti-violence advocate in Louisiana: "Conservatives are 'right' on crime. Only by holding individuals, not policy positions accountable can breakthroughs be made. Violent crime is often what drives increasingly harsher legislation because absent individual choice not to inflict criminal harm society can only impose sanctions upon the offender."
He continues his commentary: "Reasonable debate can be had over prevention verses punishment and more risky topics like Nature Verses Nurture but at days [sic] end whether someone had an advantaged or disadvantaged childhood, his behavior is his alone to govern. When you seduce people, especially ones already prone to excessive societal scrutiny, into thinking distant policies are to blame for their wrong doing you set them up for failure. When Black boys and men are taught to solely blame Republicans; callous captains of industry and tortured history for criminal conduct they commit an even greater crime has been done against them. Individual choice allows me to act in accordance with high standards even if a given society; institution or individual mistakenly assigns me lower value. Not all Black boys and men are lemmings marching behind mass market appeals to be thugs and worse."
More commentary from Mr. Enzi, about crime: "Stage whispered question to Black juvenile and adult thugs: If the criminal justice system is so biased then it's your duty not to behave in ways placing you under its control! Until crime-prone Black boys and men make that decision don't waste time bending my ear about how bad 'they' treat us when you choose being a criminal over good citizenship. Conservatives are 'right' on crime when stating individuals must be held accountable for their actions - especially when others are hurt or killed."
