The conservative Republican doctor slams Congressional Democrats for opposing a measure that sought to impose fines and prison terms on doctors who perform sex-selective abortions on women: "The willingness of folks to consider selective abortions which eliminate female fetuses is a pox on mankind. This preference of male children over females says to women, we are only important to furthering the human race not for our inherent value as human beings. That the Democratic [P]arty refuses to allow the banning of such selective abortions in this country is unfortunate. This allowance for some cultures which are supposed to follow the US Constitution when on our soil still gives males more value for life than females.This ranks as the epitome of sexism and is the ultimate war on women."
She adds: "I firmly believe that the government and others should neither practice medicine nor interfere in the doctor-patient relationship. But for me as a physician, I can’t find any inherent value or medical reasoning in abortions which eliminate female fetuses in preference to males. In my dreams for my granddaughter, nieces, great nieces and women of the world, I still live for the day when the creed of this nation will equally apply to women and we will not be judged by the color of our skin, while our character will matter and equality of opportunity in education, jobs, pay, etc. will not be denied us."
