Lindiwe Mazibuko: "Give Us 10 Years"

The Democratic Alliance is a South African moderate-liberal party with its stronghold mainly being the province where Cape Town is located that seeks to unseat the ruling socialist African National Congress. It's a party popular with whites and "Coloureds" (mixed-race people). It has increased its support in 8 of the country's 9 provinces, and seeks to gain support among South Africa's increasingly disenchanted black middle class. Its parliamentary leader discusses the party's future with The New Age (South Africa): "Born and bred in Durban, Mazibuko, 32, has been at the helm of the DA only since October last year, but she already believes that her party will be in government in the next 10 years."

More: "Mazibuko says she agrees with the prediction made by deputy CEO of the South African Institute of Race Relations, Frans Cronje, that the ANC will be out of power by 2024. The DA’s growth strategy encompasses elements of recruiting a growing number of disenchanted ANC members who are fed up with the direction the ruling party is taking. With more and more of these swelling the ranks of the DA, the party would be in charge of the national government by 2019 or 2024. She says this is very realistic and not a pipe dream. 'I want to be in the government in the next 10 years, but before that I want to spend more time in Parliament,' she says."
