Duane Brayboy, a conservative blogger in Georgia, writes: "Currently, the Middle East is on fire as multiple US embassies have
been attacked by Islamic forces. While we may all have our complaints
about CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc. and how they cover the news in general, at
least they are talking about this situation in great detail. Where is
Black media? I challenge you. Take a look at some of the more popular
Black 'news' websites. Embassies are being attacked and what are we
talking about? 'Why Interracial Couples Shouldn’t Discuss Race', 'D.L.
Hughley on Lupe Fiasco', and of course, reason number 1,343,666 why
Romney is a racist–GO OBAMA!! But when it comes to more pressing issues
that remove us from the ghettos of the Internet into mainstream global
issues, oftentimes these Black media outlets prefer to stay in the
ghetto."
More commentary from Mr. Brayboy: "Sites like TheRoot.com, TheGrio.com, BlackAmericaWeb.com are all very
good at defending President Obama, pointing out the latest 'coded'
racial insult from the right, updating us on the latest tattoo
installment on either Chris Brown and Rhianna [sic], and providing endless
commentaries on the ups and downs of the Black entertainment world. But
what do these well educated conversation makers have to say about the
global marketplace? What about millions of dollars that are being
invested everyday in startups even in this sick economic climate? What
about the billions of dollars that government is pouring into the
economy and providing an honest report card on the successes and
failures of such governmental actions? We cannot continue this approach 'If there are no Black people in the picture, we are not interested'.
This is a broke mindset and sadly this is exactly what our media puts
out there."
