The 9/11 Attacks: Bookeristas Remember

Bookeristas reflect on that tragic day:

Rep. Allen West: "We Remember Islamic Terrorism"

The conservative Republican Congressman from Florida has put out a statement about today's 11th anniversary: "On this day, we remember the unconscionable attack by the Islamic terrorist group Al Qaeda on the United States of America. This attack resulted in the loss of thousands of men and women, and American lives were changed forever."

More: "On that September morning, America was a vulnerable target. Our adversaries believed we were a 'sleeping giant' that had drifted back to sleep. Instead, this atrocity awoke the 'giant' and resulted in a reaction from our country against those who wished to tread upon us. Today, thanks to the brave warriors of the American Armed Forces and our Allies, Osama Bin Laden is dead, Al Qaeda has been diminished in Afghanistan and much of the Middle East and America has yet to see another attack of this magnitude on American soil."

Savannah: "Where Were You?"

The conservative blogger in North Carolina learned about the attacks during her high school English class: "By the end of the day I was scared and angry, but I finally understood what it meant to be an American and love my country. Everyone remembers where they were and what they felt on 9/11, it's the one memory that feels like yesterday. It's also the one memory that brings us together as a country, despite our differences. In this election year, the biggest of my short lifetime, I hope we can forget who is red or blue and remember we are all red, white, and blue. I hope we can remember the families who lost loved ones and remember those who died fighting to save others. I hope it's a day for those who are suffering through whatever circumstance to remember the United States of America is the greatest nation in the world. Though the images are terrifying and heartbreaking, we must NEVER FORGET what happened or how we came together as a nation."

Nadra Enzi: "My 9/11 Plea To Black Muslims"

The moderate-conservative Republican blogger and Muslim wonders why Black Muslims are silent on Islamic terrorism, anti-Semitism, and racism against white folks even while doing good projects in black communities: "Black Muslims have yet to oppose Arab nationalism with the same vigor reserved for American racism. They can't have it both ways. Not challenging the homicidal hatred of Arab nationalists undermines the good Black Muslims accomplish."

Mr. Enzi continues his commentary: "My 9/11 plea to Black Muslims is simple: oppose vanity at home and violence abroad seeking your blind loyalty. You are Americans and as such owe nothing to domestic despots nor foreign furies. Peace be unto the United States of America on September 11th, 2012 and good people everywhere!"
