Botswana: Trust In Ian Khama Down

President Ian Khama
From the Botswana Gazette, about Botswana's center-right president: "According to the results of the Afro Barometer Round Five survey in Botswana on trust in political and security institutions, public trust in President Ian Khama has declined from 76% to 69%, a drop of 7% since the 2008 result."

More: "The leader of the research team, Professor Mogopodi Lekorwe, of the University of Botswana, suggested that the decline can be tentatively linked to some of the socio-economic and political events that took place in the country in the last few years, such as the breakup of the [center-right] Botswana Democratic party and the defection of some of its members of Parliament, councillors and other political activists to its splinter, the Botswana Movement for Democracy, and the other opposition parties."
