Kenneth Durden, a libertarian-conservative blogger, writes: "President Obama and Democrats are counting money not borrowed for
continued war in Afghanistan and Iraq as a windfall for more national
government spending. The thinking seems to be that all of our problems
will be solved if we will simply take money from national defense and
then spend it on federal social programs. A simple glance across the
pond would show how wrong this thinking really is."
He continues his commentary: "Many of those who say the U.S. is not exceptional seem to turn around
and suggest that the ours is the only nation immune to economic
realities. Ours is the only nation that can spend without restraint and
never have to worry about the impact on our current economy or the
burden on future generations."
