Lindiwe Mazibuko: "Dithering South African President Jacob Zuma Must Make An Economic Choice"

Asserts the South African moderate-liberal parliamentarian, who argues that the president must stop his economic policies which hinder job creation: ""Here we clearly see the 'opportunity cost' of Mr Zuma's faltering presidency. Capital that should be diverted to priority areas, like education and 'hard' infrastructure, is constrained by an ever-shrinking tax base, and the corresponding increase in the cost of borrowing due to successive credit downgrades. The president must use his office to create a platform of shared national purpose, especially among the youth. Frighteningly, the cost of ''doing' government in South Africa today uses up a whopping 35% of GDP. There has to be a reorientation of policy and direction, where we, the citizens, receive answers to the question: what we can do to get South Africa working again?"
