Black conservatives on two continents weigh in some more on the moderate-conservative Republican's performance during Monday's U.S. presidential debate:
France: Neoafricain: "Belle Victoire Tactique De Romney (Checkmate For Romney)!"
The French conservative blogger argues that the momentum is on Mr. Romney's side, because he achieved his objectives during the debate series (original op-ed in French): "At the start of the four major television debates (including the VP candidates), the Republican ticket had its successful convention but was facing major challenges on its way to the White House. Unfavorable surveys made it difficult to present itself as a credible alternative by a majority of voters.
Today, these problems are transformed into opportunities for the ticket."
He adds: "Throughout the three [presidential] debates, Mitt Romney demonstrated his mastery of important issues. He was excellent on the economic and fiscal subjects, and lucid and firm on foreign policy and staunch defended his country's exceptionalism. With his leader-oriented image, everyone now knows that if voters trust him, he will be ready from the first minute of his mandate. His stature as Head of State is now firmly established."
USA: Stacy Swimp: "Romney Advocates Peace Through Strength"
Asserts the conservative Republican and Romney supporter in Michigan: "After
four years of an Obama
administration, the American people are less safe, more unemployed, and
the U.S. economy is sinking at record pace. Additionally, the President
refuses to
take responsibility for the fact that the economic recession produced by
his failed domestic policies poses a major threat to our national
security. The differences between the way Governor
Romney and President Obama see the role of the U.S. in the world is
clear and undeniable. Governor Romney sees America as the 'hope of the
world'. President Obama sees America as a thorn in the side of the
world. The American people will have to decide whose views and values
they trust most to rebuild our economy and to keep us safe."
USA: Lloyd Marcus: "Romney Was Way Too Soft On Obama"
Asserts the conservative Republican entertainer and Romney supporter in Florida, about Monday's debate: "During the debate, Obama performed like the classless lying Chicago
bully-in-chief that he is. Every answer out of Obama's mouth was a
thinly-veiled personal attack calling Romney a liar, lacking in
character, or pronouncing him ignorant. Romney's responses were too classy for my taste. He let Obama get
away with far too many attacks. They say the aggressor sets the rules.
Since Obama started it, I wanted Romney to deliver multiple factually
loaded verbal left hooks to Obama's jaw."
USA: Armstrong Williams: "Romney Showed That He's Cut Out To Be President"
Asserts the conservative Republican commentator and Romney supporter in D.C.: "Let’s face it: Romney had a lot of red meat that he could have thrown to
his base. We know that the Obama Administration has lied to us about
Benghazi; this is all in the public record. But Romney did not even
mention it, never mind pressing him on it. Romney was presidential: he had a staggering number of statistics
available off the top of his head. The President didn’t have many of his
own (any, actually, that I can recall), and couldn’t challenge Romney’s
factual assertions."
