Was anyone really expecting anything different from the moderate Republican? For those of you who are wondering, Mr. Powell states that he remains a Republican. From the Associated Press: "Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a longtime Republican, is sticking with President Barack Obama in this year’s election.
He tells 'CBS This Morning' he respects Mitt Romney but thinks he’s been vague on many issues.
Speaking of Obama, Powell said the president got the United States out of Iraq and has laid out a plan for leaving Afghanistan 'and didn’t get us into any new wars.'
He praises Obama’s economic performance, saying that while difficult choices are ahead on taxes, spending and budgetary policies, 'steadily, I think we’ve begun to come out of the dive and we’re gaining altitude.'"
On a radio show, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) slammed Mr. Powell's endorsement of the liberal Democrat: "General Powell, you disappoint us and you have harmed your legacy even
further by defending what is clearly the most feckless foreign policy in
my lifetime.”

Samuel Gonzalez, a conservative Republican blogger in New York, writes: "It was the GOP that put Colin Powell on the map. This is how this disloyal man pays us back, by backing a celebrity president that’s ruining the country. Powell needs to just become a Democrat and call it a day!"
