Alveda King: "Expose The Real War On Women"

The pro-life activist and conservative in Georgia argues that abortion and contraceptives are horrible for women: "November 25 was the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Mostly, domestic violence, sex trafficking and other atrocities are addressed in this agenda."

She continues her commentary: "Yet, there is a 'dirty little secret' that the world tries to hide. Abortion and contraceptives are really bad for women. Abortion and the pill often kill women. African American are among the most highly affected targets of abortion and contraception peddlers, so we have more deaths of our babies and more side effects from the deadly fruits of the same tree. Yes, abortions and contraceptives hurt women. They hurt our bodies, our souls and bruise our spirits."

Booker Rising response: I'll allow that abortion could be damaging to a significant percentage of women's spirits and possibly bodies. I imagine that abortion is an emotionally nerve-wracking decision, and it is a physically invasive procedure. However, I ain't buying that contraceptives fall into the same category. Tens of millions of American women use contraceptives on a daily basis. Where are the widespread deaths?
