From NBC News, about the former general: "CIA Director David Petraeus resigned Friday, citing an extramarital affair and 'extremely poor judgment.' As first reported by NBC News, Petraeus disclosed the affair in a
letter released to the CIA work force on Friday afternoon, writing: 'Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of
an organization such as ours.' Petraeus told President Barack
Obama of his affair and offered his resignation during a meeting
Thursday, a senior official told NBC News."
More: "Petraeus' biographer [and alleged mistress], Paula Broadwell, is under FBI investigation for
improperly trying to access his email and possibly gaining access to
classified information, law enforcement officials told NBC News on Friday.
She is the author of Petraeus' biography, 'All In.' Broadwell had
extensive access to Petraeus in Afghanistan and has given numerous
television interviews speaking about him."
Suspicious Timing?
Samuel Gonzalez, a conservative Republican blogger in New York, believes so. Mr. Petraeus was apparently due to testify before a U.S. Senate committee regarding the Benghazi controversy, and this news challenges his credibility: "I don’t believe for a second that David Petraeus’s resignation has anything to do with 'an affair'. I think he doesn’t wanna tell the truth about the Benghazi Cover Up."
