John Godson: "The Polish Government Makes It Beneficial To Be A Single Parent, At The Expense Of Marriage. This Must End"

The Nigerian-born Polish conservative parliamentarian and former Pentecostal minister has a new policy mission. From Gazeta (Poland) (original article in Polish): "John Godson, parliamentarian from Lodz, wants to fight the growing number of divorces and decline of marriage. He is calling for curtailing privileges for 'single' parents, a status where it is easier to enroll your child to day care or preschool."

MP Godson argues that the Polish government must "support an actual family, not a casual relationship". The article continues: "'Experience has shown that many people deliberately avoid marriage in order to be able to enjoy the privileges given to single parents. Experts suggest that in 2003, when the government significantly increased benefits for single parents, the number of applications for separations increased by over 200 percent,' said the Member of Parliament."
