| Mia Love: "hands off calling me the female Obama!" |
Tonight the former small-town mayor is likely to become the first black Republican female to be elected to the U.S. Congress. From Politico, about the conservative Republican: "Utah GOP congressional candidate Mia Love — who would be the first
African-American female Republican elected to Congress — on Tuesday
downplayed any historical comparison with President Barack Obama. 'You
know, I’m just worried about getting our country back on track,' Love
said on CNN when asked if she felt a kinship with Obama as historical 'firsts.' 'If I can do that and we can get our country back on track,
that’s the history I’m interested in making.'"
Booker Rising response: She may reject the comparison, but Obama certainly helped pave the way for her likely historic victory tonight. Give credit where due.....
UPDATE: In related Mia Love news....
The Salt Lake Tribune has revised its poll from last Friday, which showed Ms. Love leading Rep. Jim Matheson 52%-40%. It cites an overpolling of Republican respondents as the cause. Its revised poll from today shows Ms. Love with a 7-point lead.
