The moderate-conservative former chairman of the Republican National Committee argues that the party's message and candidates must change. From Politico: "'You realize that something different is happening in American
politics,' he added. 'My estimation: cut the crap out and recognize your
message is tone deaf to voters and your brand isn’t as strong as it
once was. 50,000 Hispanics are turning 18 every month, and what is the
party going to do about that?'"
A slam against social conservatives?: "'Obama got by without giving us any clue about what he’d do over the
next four years,' Steele said. 'But Republicans were stuck talking about
vaginal probes and women’s bodies, and Democrats were stuck talking
about vaginal probes because that’s what Republicans were talking
about.'"
