Ghana's center-right presidential candidate has released a statement about the U.S. presidential election. From Joy Online (Ghana): "On behalf of Ghana's [center-right] New Patriotic Party (NPP), and on my own behalf, I join millions across the world in congratulating President Barack Obama on his re-election by the American people as president of the United States of America. The peaceful, transparent election of 6th November, 2012 is an exemplary demonstration of the quality of America's democracy, which continues to be a beacon of free democratic engagement for democrats across the globe, especially in Africa."

Mr. Akufo-Addo continues: "His victory is an acknowledgement by the American people of his record of strong leadership at a time of America's economic difficulties which is beginning to yield positive results for the American people, his determination to ensure fairness and equity in the operation of America's health and educational systems and his clear vision of America's role in the world in the changed circumstances of the 21st Century."
