Without a birth time, only half of Ms. Love's natal chart information is available. However, her basic character traits can still be analyzed through planetary aspects (which remain the same regardless of her birth time). I've zeroed in on the aspects which could impact a Congressional career, in the likely event that Mia Love becomes the first black female Republican elected to the U.S. Congress.
Her natal chart shows that Ms. Love's key strengths are her fiery personality, intellect, friendliness, optimism, being a go-getter type, and adaptability. Her key weaknesses are being very opinionated, escapist tendencies, poor organizing skills, little common sense, and a tendency to change her decisions a lot. Click below to see the specifics....
Strength-Challenge: A Fiery Intellectual...Who Is Very Opinionated
With five astrological planets in Fire signs, Mayor Love has a very fiery personality. She's a restless spitfire who is assertive in seeking to get her own way. It is further reinforced by her Sun-Mercury (ego-thoughts) conjunction in fiery Sagittarius.
The Sun-Mercury conjunction suggests that Ms. Love is an intelligent woman. She is intellectually-oriented, with at least three astrological planets in Air signs (which represents how one uses one's mind). Her Moon (which represents her emotional state) is possibly in an Air sign as well, if she has an Aquarius Moon (I strongly suspect that she was born after 1:30pm....the Moon changed from shy Capricorn to independent-minded Aquarius on her birthdate).
Half of her planets are positioned in degrees that fall in the second decanate. The second decanate emphasizes the mind. Ms. Love has a very curious mindset. Ms. Love likely reads various newspapers, websites, etc. in order to stay on top of the latest news. She likely has a variety of interests, but her restlessness means that she gets bored very easily as well.
Assuming she is elected on Tuesday, Ms. Love's personality should serve her well in Congress. She will vigorously defend her conservative viewpoints, and not be intimidated by senior Congressional members. However, the same Sun-Mercury (ego-thoughts) conjunction responsible for her intellect is also behind her being a very opinionated woman. Ms. Love will need to make sure that she doesn't immediately dismiss other Congressional representatives' viewpoints.
Ms. Love's True Node (which represents her destiny) is positioned in power-oriented Scorpio. We don't know what house it's positioned in due to not knowing her birth time, but this sign placement means that she's mean to be in a career that emphasizes power. She is Neptune Oriental (i.e., creative-oriented Neptune is the planet that rose before her Sun on her birthdate) — which means that creativity and musicality are strong themes in her life, and this is backed up by her strong musical background which almost led to a Broadway career. Her True Node placement in Scorpio guaranteed that her life's work would be power-oriented and not creative-oriented in nature, as would normally be the case with a Neptune Oriental person.
Strength-Challenge: A Friendly Optimist...With Escapist TendenciesMs. Love's Sun (ego) is in optimistic and friendly Sagittarius, and her Sun is well-aspected with other astrological planets. With her Sun trine Jupiter (luck), Ms. Love gets a bigger boost on the friendliness and optimism fronts. She loves interacting with people, and she probably has plenty of friends. With her Venus (love) in Libra, she also has a tendency to want to play mediator in her social relationships. This should translate well into the political arena as well.
If she joins Congress, she will likely be well-liked among her peers. Male members of Congress will particularly have a soft, platonic spot for her (due to her Venus-Mars trine, a positive aspect). She may use her charisma to bring various factions within conservatism together, or even cross the partisan aisle a few times.
With both her Sun (ego) and Mercury (thoughts) conjunct Neptune (dreaminess), Ms. Love tends to engage in escapism. With these astrological planets in Sagittarius, she likely does so on the mental front instead of dabbling in negative escapist activities like alcohol, drugs, or wanton sex. At least, let's hope so! Nevertheless, she regularly goes into her dream world as a Fire-Air type.
Strength-Challenge: An Adaptable Go-Getter Type...With Poor Organizing Skills, Little Common Sense, & A Tendency To Change Her Mind A LotMs. Love has at least three astrological planets — and possibly her Moon as well — in Cardinal (leadership) signs. This means that she's a go-getter. She is no wallflower when it comes to going after what she wants. With many planets in Mutable signs, she can also easily adapt to changes in her life. As a Cardinal/Mutable type, however, decision-making is a key problem for Ms. Love.
If she has an Aquarius Moon (as I suspect), then Ms. Love also has zero Earth signs in her chart. At best, she has one planet (a Capricorn Moon) in an Earth sign. What Astrology-Numerology.com says about Earth absence in a natal chart: "You may seem to be somehow lost in space and unable to get your feet on the ground. Because of this you may reject responsibility and have trouble getting organized and following through on a task. There frequently is shown a childish inability to handle mundane tasks, and you may be one of those people who needs help to accomplish the simplest fix-up chore."
The lack of organizing skills is further reinforced by the chief downside of Mia Love being a Fire-Air type: "The problem is getting things done as you are a person that is not well grounded in the persistent traits normally required to see the job through to completion. As full of ideas and enthusiasm as you are, energies may be scattered, and you must realize that you can't just pour out your energies unreservedly without simultaneously tuning in on your deeper resources if you're to avoid a state of constant depletion."
This trait came out early on in Ms. Love's campaign for Congress. Her campaign was reportedly very disorganized until National Republican Congressional Committee and Utah Republican Party operatives took over her campaign and steered it on the positive path. Ms. Love's campaign publicly blamed the disorganization on the lack of money early on. However, Ms. Love's natal chart shows that the primary problem likely revolved around (1) Ms. Love's lack of organizing skills; and/or (2) her tendency to frequently change campaign decisions.
Given these chart challenges, I'd strongly suggest that she defer to Congressional leaders to select her key staffers. Ms. Love should stick to playing to her strengths — charismatic personality, optimistic mindset, and ability to persuade others — to highlight legislation that she supports. She should leave crafting legislation and maneuvering to get it passed to her peers. She can also utilize her strengths to articulate the positive aspects of conservatism, and interact with constituents (while leaving the actual work which may result from constituents' questions to staffers).
Because her birth time hasn't been publicized, I can't analyze planetary transits across Ms. Love's natal chart to wager how things might turn out for her on Election Day...
