Poll: Mia Love Has Slim Lead On Rep. Jim Matheson

Rep. Jim Matheson and Mia Love, during a debate
This poll is from Deseret News, so it's different from the Salt Lake Tribune poll which Booker Rising highlighted on Friday: "Love slipped a little in the latest Deseret News/KSL poll but maintains a slight edge over Matheson in Utah's volatile 4th Congressional District. Pollster Dan Jones and Associates found that 42 percent of registered voters in the district say they would definitely vote for Love, while 38 percent say they would definitely vote for Matheson. When those leaning toward one candidate or the other are factored in, Love leads Matheson 48 percent to 43 percent. Only 6 percent are undecided, leaving few voters to fight over in the waning hours."

This same poll showed Ms. Love trailing by 15 points back in June, so she's come a long way in her bid to become the first black Republican female in the U.S. Congress: "Love found the poll results encouraging. 'Every credible poll has us ahead, which means the truth is resonating,' she said. 'I've had a lot of things thrown at me. I'm sure that people will continue to try to throw as much as they possibly can at me. Utahns are savvy; they're smart. They know what rings true.'"
