| Rep. Tim Scott has quietly been moving up in the Republican Congressional ranks |
For those of you who don't know, it's the most powerful committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Ways & Means oversees taxation; benefit programs such as welfare, Social Security, and Medicare and more. He's the first South Carolinians to serve on the committee in 26 years. The conservative Republican Congressman from South Carolina has released a statement on his website: "'I am honored to be chosen by my colleagues in the House to serve on
the Ways and Means Committee,' Scott said. 'Even before coming to
Congress, tax reform was a passion of mine, and I look forward to diving
straight into the discussion as we look to make the first significant
revisions to the tax code in decades. This is a great opportunity for
the First District.'"
